An original school changing/ gym bench with hooks above. Dating from the 1960’s it came from a private school in Surrey. We think it is a fantastic Retro/ Oldskool styling piece for your home. With original galvanised grille and shoe baskets, together with the gorgeous top hooks board with brass name holders, it has all the original and fantastic features you could ask for.
We love pieces that are original, have a story/ provenance, still represent a true style statement and also offer a practical solution for modern living. All the boxes ticked in one fantastic piece. A nice size to easily accommodate at home but still offer bags of style and practicality. At this price its a real style bargain.

This gym bench and baskets dates to around the early 1960’s and came out of a school in Kent. Beautiful quality, colour and finish to the original mahogany top and gorgeous natural wear to the galvanised steel shoe baskets below. This bench has an unusual design to make it different and stand out. It also has a very useful backrest to prevent marking the walls when leaning back. A really good size and weight to be a super stylish and practical piece at home now.

This gym bench and baskets dates to around 1950-60 and came out of a school in Solihull. Beautiful quality, colour and finish to the original Iroko top and gorgeous natural wear to the galvanised steel shoe baskets below. A really good size and weight to be a super stylish and practical piece at home now. We had to add new legs to this bench as the old ones were rusted through and needed to be fixed to the wall. No good for ease of use at home. The new legs are a good weight steel box section, sprayed gloss black. Very in keeping and just like the originals in size and style. The legs also have plastic end caps/ feet to stop any scratching on floors.
We had various sizes and styles old school/ gym/ locker room benches available with rows of four or five baskets wide. We also have 1970’s later baskets which are black powder coated. We can also change the colour of the legs if you have a specific colour scheme you would like to match to.
We do also have lot of original mid century gym hooks in stock (original chrome ones from Mount Kelly school, painted ones, stripped, chrome, numbered, on back boards etc. etc.)

This large gym bench and baskets dates to around the early 1960’s and came out of Mount Kelly private school in Tavistock, on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon. Beautiful quality, colour and finish to the original top and gorgeous natural wear to the galvanised steel shoe baskets below. A really good size and weight to be a super stylish and practical piece at home now. We had to add new steel legs as the original fixings were screwed to the wall. These legs now make it portable, easier to accommodate and use, whilst retaining the original looks.

This gym bench and baskets dates to the 1970’s and came out of a school near Beeston, Cheshirel. Beautiful colour to the unusual American Tulipwood top and the perfect pairing with the black powder coated generous shoe baskets below. A really good size and weight to be a super stylish and practical piece at home now. We had to add new legs to this bench as the old ones were rusted through and needed to be fixed to the wall. No good for ease of use at home. The new legs are a good weight steel box section, sprayed gloss black. Very in keeping and just like the originals in size and style. The legs also have plastic end caps/ feet to stop any scratching on floors.

This gym bench and baskets dates to around 1950-60 and came out of the changing rooms at Mount Kelly Private school in Tavistock, Devon. Beautiful colour and sheen to the original mahogany top and gorgeous natural wear to the galvanised steel shoe baskets below. We had to add new steel legs for this bench as the original ones were cut and were originally fixed to the wall. The new legs are in keeping with the original design, made from steel and sprayed gloss black. A really good size and weight to be a super stylish and practical piece at home now.
We have various sizes of these benches available with rows of four, five or six baskets wide (such as this one). We also have 1970’s later baskets which are black powder coated. We could even make up benches at double this width etc.
