Pair of Mid Century Italian Banquet Chairs in Brass
£395FREE Shipping on this item within approximately 130 miles of Cambridgeshire. More remote and rural areas will incur a charge to send via courier.
A stunning and rare pair of mid Century Italian Chiavari (Banquet) chairs in heavy brass. These chairs was created in 1807 by a cabinet maker from Chiavari on the north-western Italian coast, Giuseppe Gaetano Descalzi. At the invitation of the President of the Economic Society of Chiavari, the Marquis Stefano Rivarola, Descalzi reworked some chairs in the French Empire style, simplifying the decorative elements and lightening the structural elements. They were basically born form the simplification in design of the heavily ornate French Empire chairs. These chairs would have been used in meetings, weddings, banquets etc. They retain their original upholstery in very good order for their age.We think they are stunning dress chairs that would spark many conversations. They could be used as hall chairs, bedroom chairs, dressing table chairs, bathroom chairs etc etc. A unique style statement to really finish a space.Dimensions:
93cm Back Height, 38cm Wide, 43cm Deep.
Seat height 45.5cm

There are some small rub marks to the arms and some paint chips to the rear of the chair – all small. Please see photographs for close ups of the condition.
