An amazing desk in solid English oak, dating from 1937. These desks typically came from a Government office/ Public Service such as Civil Servant Offices, Schools, Railways etc. This desk is stamped with George VI and the crown on the underside, together with LCC (London County Council). London County Council was the principal local government body for the County of London throughout its existence from 1889 to 1965, and the first London-wide general municipal authority to be directly elected. It covered the area today known as Inner London and was replaced by the Greater London Council.
Now presented in a beautiful rich oak that only time can offer. The desk also retains its original green top in excellent condition for its age. All three drawers run freely with beautiful brass cup handles. We have had a number of these George V and George VI desks and they always sell so quickly.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk.

An original chest of generously proportioned and well made Victorian drawers in mahogany. The drawers date from around 1880-1900 and are presented in a two over three graduated configuration. The bottom drawer being a very deep blanket type drawer that pulls out the bottom skirt along with the drawer front. The chest comes complete with all handles fully in tact and sits on its original bun feet. All five drawers are dovetail jointed, exceptionally clean inside and run as they should. Drawer liners could be used if you prefer.
We love the beautifully coloured wood, the handles and the practicality of those gorgeously deep drawers. Antique chic!
Please note the drawers are over 150 years old and they will have cosmetic marks to the front and some signs of wear. Eg two drawer locks are missing, a veneer bubble on the bottom drawer above the handle. Please see all photographs for the true condition and just ask if you need more detailed photos.
