An exceptional 6 drawer Architect/ Plan chest of drawers on original legs, by Abbess. These drawers came to us in a tired old brown stain, peeling away. They are completely original and pretty rare to have their original legs and base still present. We fully stripped away the old brown varnish, sanded the whole carcass, frame, drawers and handles. Then we refinished the piece in a matt black paint for the carcass and original handles with a clear satin finish varnish to the gorgeous oak finish.
We think the colour and grain are now superb. The drawers make a fantastic kitchen island or of course artist drawers, drawers for collectors, a TV stand with a difference etc etc. Use them exactly where you need them. Immense storage in stunning style and gorgeous condition. These chests are never with us long and we completely understand why

An classic example of an original vintage low glazed bookcase/ unit/ sideboard in teak with original glass sliding doors. Produced around the late 1960’s this is a really clean and original example. It retains the metal Herbert Gibbs makers label to the rear showing it is form their Autograph range. A great size, superb colour with original glass doors. Truly stunning heavy English radial cut oak throughout, with through dovetails joints to the pull out drawers and dovetails on the three pedestal drawers. Even the drawer sides are solid mahogany, not the more usual pine. A sign of the quality of this desk. The tambour door works smoothly, as do all drawers and the pull out top shelf to the right pedestal. The roller door is released by pressing the original brass release button. There is a lock but no key.
A beautiful and rare desk that can be used as a decorative/ dress piece or as a fully functioning desk space.
