This gym bench dates to around the late 1950’s to mid 1960’s. It is a very rare find being produced by ESA. Esavian – ESA – was the brand name for the Education Supply Association Ltd. They produced a lot of Post War school and industrial mid century furniture. Most people know the furniture from school as a lot of it was produced in the 1950s and 60s. James Leonard designed a lot of the ESA beech and ply furniture.
This bench is in super original condition both in the beech framework and the really true and square shoes baskets. Most of the baskets get bent or broken over the years but this one is in really good, straight condition, with perfect aged patina to the metal work. We fully cleaned the piece. It has all the original style and character but ready for another 60+ years of use.
These are very popular benches and we are finding it harder and harder to get them like this. Every time we manage to find one it flies out to another very happy customer.
A perfect way of tidying up a hallway or entrance whilst adding a real style statement.

An original school changing/ gym bench dating from the early 1960’s. They came direct from an International School in Glamorgan, Wales. Superb Retro/ Old school styling for your home. We have six available should you want to use them as dining benches or café/ restaurant benches. Each bench has a very nice weight to reflect the quality of construction. In very good condition structurally they have a perfectly aged colour and patina to both the seat tops and the metal frames. They are designed to stack neatly on top of each other should you need to store away. Each bench is large enough to comfortable seat 4 people.
We think they can now sit perfectly in so many settings – be it a hall bench, dining bench, café or restaurant.
Very cool and practical styling at a fantastic price. Only 1 of the 6 benches left!

This gym bench and baskets dates to around the late 1960’s to early 1970’s and came out of a Leisure Centre in Nottingham, where it had been since they opened in the late 1960’s. Great solid weight and quality to the original steel legs and mahogany top. It is in completely original condition. We just gave it a good clean, oiled the legs and baskets then teak oil to the bench top for replenishment and refresh. The front legs do have rust to them at the bottoms (as photographed) but they are stable and perfectly fine. We just didn’t want to replace them, as they are the original legs. And original is very rarely the best option when it comes to antique and vintage pieces.
This bench has all the superb old school styling you could want and a really good size. A perfect way of tidying up a hallway or entrance whilst adding a real style statement.

This gym bench and baskets dates to around the 1970’s and came out of a school in Wisbech. Great solid weight and quality to the top, with black powder coated shoe baskets below. We had to add new legs t the bench as the original ones were rusted and cut to fit over radiator pipes. The legs are steel and have been sprayed in a gloss black, to tie in with the baskets. This bench has all the superb old school styling you could want. A perfect way of tidying up a hallway or entrance whilst adding a real style statement.
