Read moreEarly 20th Century Captains Chair by Cooke’s of Finsbury
£0FREE Delivery on this item. Far afield, rural and remote locations will incur a surcharge.
A stunning example of an early 20th Century solid oak Captains chair. This was produced by Cooke’s of Finsbury who produced very good quality office and home office furniture, predominantly in English Oak, since 1885. We have been lucky enough to find desk, cabinets and chairs by Cooke’s and they always sell very well. Amazing original condition with beautiful colour and fantastic patina to the oak framework. The seat swivels and also has a height adjustment by around 3cm. The chair sits on it’s original brass castors and retains the metal makers badge to the underside of the seat. The original seat covering was ripped so we recovered it in quality thick grade soft black leather but retained the original seat wadding and the leather covered tacks to re-fix the new seat leather.
A very sold, stylish and timeless office/ study chair that will just get better with age.
Dimensions:
84cm Back Height, 48cm Seat Height, 46.5cm seat width, 43cm seat depth, 61.5cm arm to arm width, 73cm arm height. All dimensions are as photographed (seat height, arm height etc can be changed via the twist height adjuster).

Read moreWaring & Gillow Dresser in Farrow & Ball Off Black
£0FREE Ground floor two man delivery with this piece. Further afield, remote or rural locations will incur a surcharge.
A Victorian styled English Dresser with glazed doors by Waring & Gillow. Waring & Gillow were formed in 1897 by merging Gillows of Lancaster with Warings of Liverpool. Waring’s of Liverpool was founded by John Waring, who arrived in the city from Belfast in 1835 and established a wholesale cabinet making business. He was succeeded by his son Samuel James Waring who rapidly expanded the business during the 1880s, furnishing hotels and public buildings throughout Europe. He also founded Waring-White Building Company which built the Liverpool Corn Exchange, Selfridge’s department store and the Ritz Hotel.
We estimate this piece was originally produced in the 1980’s in the Victorian style. It has a quality weight and feel to it, originally finished in Cherry veneer. Fantastically simple in it’s lines and design but of impressive stature. Even the glass has a quality weight and very nicely finished bevel edges. The dresser will add real presence to a room and offer lots of space for storage and display. The simple lines and colour scheme will allow the piece to blend with many design themes from Traditional to Contemporary. The dresser has been repainted in Farrow and Ball’s Off Black to the exterior and dark waxed for finish and protection. The finish nods to the antique heritage of its design and style. The internal sections of the dresser were in such good condition we left the natural colour of the cherry to shine through and complement the exterior colour.
With adjustable shelves to both sections and a free running serpentine drawer it now offers lots of very flexible and useful storage space – but in a beautiful package.
The top section is removable for transportation and siting in to the room of your choice.
Dimensions:
214cm High, 118cm Max width (top cornice), 47.5cm Max Depth (bottom section)
Upper section is 101cm wide (main body), 35cm deep

An original chest of generously proportioned and well made Victorian drawers in solid mahogany.
