£0Free Shipping included within the price but distant/ remote and rural areas will incur a charge.
This is a very rare and exceptional bookcase by Globe Wernicke. Globe bought Wernicke to begin the reign of the famous brand Globe-Wernicke. They are most well known for producing the elastic stack able book cases under patent in the USA. Thomas Turner also started marketing the design in England. Globe-Wernicke then expanded in to Canada, France, Belgium and Austria.
From an historical Wernicke catalogue we have found that this style of bookcase (of four styles they produced) was the highest grade premium radial cut oak. We can not found another example of this style. We can find many Globe-Wernicke stacking bookcases in all of the finishes they produced but we can not find another bookcase of this style, design, size and weight. All of the above shows the rarity of this piece. It could even have been a specially commissioned piece.
We estimate the weight to be circa 100-120kgs. This is a testament to the quality of the solid oak used throughout. However, please bear this in mind when considering purchasing and whcih room you would envisage the bookcase. We could only offer a ground floor delivery service with at least two men.
If you have any further questions or would like to view please contact us and we can certainly accommodate.

£0FREE Delivery on this item (some more remote and rural locations will incur a surcharge)
This is a quite exceptional example of a mid 20th Century stacking Bookcase in solid oak, dating from the 1940’s to 50’s. The piece is heavy and made from very good quality radial cut oak. The quality of the oak used and the weight and thickness of the original glass doors all point to a piece that would have been expensive when new. All of the glass doors are original with no visible scratches or chips. The patina is superb for oak of this age and has clearly been cherished and well cared for.
The shelves are a good size for books or other items that you might want to display. The bookcase can be taken apart for easy transportation or relocation to another room. A great addition to any home! Contemporary mid Century styling that is very on trend but with quality of construction. A timeless classic that will only appreciate with age.
Dimensions:
132cm High, 89cm Width, 30cm Deep (lower section), 23cm Deep (top sections)

£0FREE Delivery on this item (some more remote and rural locations will incur a surcharge)
This is a lovely example of an early 20th Century stacking Bookcase in oak, dating from the late 1920’s to early 30’s. It is very much in the style of Globe Wernicke but without the premium price tag. Excellent craftsmanship can be seen in the stacking sections, the bookcase still has original glass in it’s glazed doors. The cutest brass handles dress the doors and each opens fully with a ball bearing catch on each to ensure they stay closed. The handles on the bottom two doors are more modern replacement but very fitting, nicely coloured and styled to match.
