A stunning design by Alfred Cox from the late 1960’s. The credenza, or sideboard has the quality hand craftsmanship expected by this high quality producer. Alfred Cox pieces were sold in high quality retailers, including Heals of London. The piece is long and heavy, reflective of the quality of Australian Walnut wood used. The main cabinetry is made of beautifully grained walnut, complemented by teak and beech to the handles and lower frame/ legs. All of the drawers and internal sections of the piece are clean and run freely.
With two cupboard areas and 3 drawers there is a vast array of storage space available. It could be used as a TV stand and media unit, drinks cabinet and books etc etc. Amazing mid century styling in a beautiful finish by a very well regarded name. It’s got it all.

This is a beautiful example of a Barrister’s style bookcase in perfectly aged golden oak. It dates from around the mid to late 1930’s and offers lots of very stylish storage. It is made from beautifully coloured and grained oak and Minty are renowned for their quality stacking bookcases. The bookcase is presented in exceptional condition. The bookcase splits in to different sections for ease of moving to the room of your choice. Use as a bookcase, drinks cabinet, bathroom cabinet, cosmetics and perfume etc.

Mid Century Teachers Desk by Astrola of Hammersmith, London

A gorgeous mid century oak desk handmade by Astrola of London (Hammersmith, W6). It dates from around the late 1940’s to late 1950’s and is in beautiful condition. Fully cleaned and gently restored by us. This desk came to us form a private owner in Buntingford, Hertfordhsire. The family owned it from new and served two generations of studying and working, both parents and children. It presents itself in a beautifully aged oak colour and patina with a really nicely sized work surface for home use. All six drawers un freely and have been cleaned and sanded back internally. The desk also retains the original makers badge on the rear.
The build and quality will mean this desks can only appreciate in value if looked after well.

1960’s School / Science Lab Cabinet in Beech

A very stylish and superb looking old school science lab cabinet. Dating from the 1960’s the cabinet is constructed from solid beech and veneer faced bottom doors. The cabinet came to us from a school in Harrogate, where it spent its whole life. It was rescued by the teacher’s son before it was heading for its destiny in a skip! Internally it is very clean with adjustable shelf height supports on both sides. The height of the shelves can easily be adjusted or they can be removed completely. The internal bolts and handles to the exterior are all present and original. Both top and lower sections are lockable and have the keys. The lower section does have some cut outs in the back where sockets/ leads were accessed. These science lab cabinets are getting very hard to find and are so sought after; especially such original ones as this in beech. We can definitely appreciate why! The cabinet splits in to the upper and lower sections for ease of transportation and siting.
Perfect as a book store, magazines etc or a drinks cabinet to mix up your own special potions. Superb clean lines, in great condition and a superb colour. Very on trend!

Large George VI Oak Desk from a Lincolnshire School

An amazing desk in solid oak, dating from the 1930’s. These desks typically came from a Government office/ Public Service such as Civil Servant Offices, Schools, Railways etc. This desk came to us form a school in Lincolnshire. It is stamped with GR VI and the crown on the underside of the desk. The beautifully aged brass cup handles are all original. All three drawers run smoothly and have been sanded back to the bottoms and cleaned.
Now presented in a beautifully aged oak colour that only time can offer. The desk top has only very minor cosmetic imperfections (please see photographs). We have had a number of these George V and George VI desks and they always sell so so quickly.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk.

An exceptional and rare 1960’s desk handmade by the world renowned Gordon Russell of Broadway. The desk is hand made from high quality oak, which has beautiful grain. All three drawers run easily and have been sanded and cleaned inside. The top drawer has its original working lock and one key. There is also a pull out mouse/ drinks tray above the drawers. At only 53.5cm deep it is perfect for passing through a narrower doorway or staircase.

An excellent example of an original mid century low glazed bookcase/ unit/ in teak, with original glass and wood sliding doors. Produced around the mid to late 1950’s this is a very nice example from the Herbert Gibbs Autograph range. A great size, super colour with original adjustable shelves and original glass. The doors are completely original too.
It offers lots of mid Century style and very flexible storage capabilities as a bookcase, drinks cabinet, etc. It can easily be accommodated in to living, dining or bedroom styling. The shelves are adjustable or removable by moving the pegs/ supports for each shelf. Fantastic and highly desirable mid century styling.
Clean lines and mid century styling that offers incredible value for money.

A beautifully designed chest of five drawers. This piece was designed by Alfred Cox and hand made in the Alfred Cox furniture factory predominantly for sale via Heals of London. They have beautiful quarter drawn Australian walnut grain, reflective of the quality of timber used. We adore the grain, the lines and particularly the legs and base. The drawers are all free running and have clean internals. They are gradated in depth from top to bottom and retain all of their original handles. There is one small area of damage to the bottom right hand corner. Hardly noticeable unless pointed out – but we do for transparency.
These Alfred Cox pieces are rapidly becoming a 60’s design classic and can only increase in value if looked after well.

A beautiful quality chest of early 20th century drawers in superb original condition. The drawers date to around the late 1900’s to early 1910’s. They were handmade from beautiful quality quarter drawn oak, radial cut to show the amazing grain. All of the perfectly aged brass handles are original and are in exceptional condition. Internally the drawers are very clean and they all run smoothly – even the drawer liners are made from quality quarter drawn oak. Just a very honest exceptional condition chest of drawers that are a design classic and an interior styling staple.
This chest will look perfect in almost any room you choose. It’s a real keeper!
