Walnut Console Table by Mercier Freres of Paris
£0FREE Delivery on this item within approximately 130 miles of Cambridgeshire. Further afield areas will incur a surcharge to send via couriers.
A stunning console produced in the early 20th Century by the very prestigious design and production house Mercier Freres. The producers were very highly regarded and ultimately supplied the Royal Court of Spain in 1855. They were prolific contributors to global furniture exhibitions and design awards. A mounted and framed exhibition advertisement posted for Mercier Freres will be included in the sale of this piece (please see photograph).
This console was hand made in solid walnut frame with book matched walnut veneer to the top and drawer fronts. With high quality elegant hand turned legs and the book matched veneer work there are obvious signs of quality design and production. A pretty special and rare item. It is not perfect. There are a few marks and a small patch of missing veneer to the top (circa 1.5cm x 1cm). However, for a piece circa 100 years old it is beautifully presented. A very rich and perfectly aged walnut patina. Two clean drawers offer storage.
We think this is a console to cherish – in a hallway or bedroom.

A very rare find! An original haberdashery display cabinet dating to the late 1950’s to mid 1960’s. It is in exceptional original condition. All drawers run easily and retain their original cushioned drawer pads. These pads can easily be lifted out if you wanted the full depth of drawer (4cm) or wanted to replace them with thinner liners. Each drawer has their original glass front panels. We adore the aged brass pull handles! Below the main cabinet is a bottom two door cupboard with two pull out trays/ drawers.
The cabinet is very solidly built and probably weighs 80+kgs. This piece is surely a dream find for the serious sewer, crafter or collector in your life? I bet you couldn’t find another one?

1960’s Rare German Desk in Beautifully Grained Hardwood
FREE Ground Floor Delivery on this piece within approximately 130 miles of Cambridgeshire. Further afield locations will incur a surcharge to send via couriers.
An exceptional and rare 1960’s desk purportedly handmade in Germany (as told to us by the seller). The desk is hand made from beautifully grained hardwood with a solid wood frame in black, tapering to the legs and brass cup feet. All drawers run easily and have been sanded and cleaned inside. The construction is solid, quality and with a very good weight for the size of desk. All drawers have dovetailed joints. We think the lines are very much of the mid Century Scandinavian and British aesthetic. We researched the desk to try to determine the designer and producer but found nothing that matched. A rare desk indeed.
The build and quality will mean this desk can only appreciate in value if looked after well.
