£0FREE Ground Floor delivery on this item within approximately 130 miles of Cambridgeshire. Further afield locations will incur a charge to send via couriers.
A simply stunning and unusual chest of large Plan drawers in heavy solid oak. The chest dates to around the early 1930’s and came to us from a school in Liverpool, where it had been owned from new. The chest is unusual that the width f the drawers are split. The normal configuration is to have full width drawers for A1 or A0 paper storage; be it plans, architect drawings, engineering diagrams etc. This chest was used as document storage by the school. It is a very heavy piece, hand made from solid oak, that has aged and coloured perfectly. All handles are original and also perfectly aged. The drawers graduate in depth from top to bottom. We think the piece now offers lots of possibilities as drawers, a TV stand, or a superb kitchen island?
We adore the design, colour and size of the chest. Difficult to find in this condition.

Width: 121.5cm
Height: 86.5 cm
Depth: 90.5 cm (excluding handle protrusions)Internal drawers dimensions are: 52cm wide, 81.5cm front to back, graduating heights from 8cm to 17.5cm

£0FREE Ground Floor Shipping on this piece within approximately 130 miles of Cambridgeshire. Further afield areas will incur a surcharge to send via couriers. The item may be shipped on a pallet to your kerb side only (postcode dependent).
A pretty rare early 20th Century steel filing cabinet by Milners (later to become Harvey Milner). With the superb heavy handles we estimate that it dates to around the early to mid 1950’s. The filing cabinet, handles and label holders are all original and present. Three of the drawers have their original suspension file cages and the bottom drawer has a sliding stay. Very good original condition for its age and much rarer than most of the vintage filing cabinets made by Roneo, Stor and Art Metal. Milner distinguished their industrial steel furniture by their quality and weight – often seen as the Rolls Royce of filing cabinets at their peak. For this reason Milner seem to have a dedicated following to match other pieces of their steel furniture such as desks, tall cabinets etc.
Industrial style and practicality all rolled in to one. Cabinets of this age by Milner are rarely seen. An industrial style investment!
Cabinet Dimensions:
132cm High, 49cm Wide, 62cm Deep
Internal Drawers Dimensions:
56cm Front to Back, 39cm Wide, 27cm High (to top of drawer front), 14cm high drawer sides

Read more5 Section Globe Wernicke Stacking Bookcase with Drawer
£0FREE Delivery on this item within approximately 130 miles of Cambridgeshire. Further afield locations will incur a surcharge to send via couriers.
A fantastic example of Globe Wernicke’s stacking ‘elastic’ bookcase. Wernicke Co. produced the Elastic bookcase in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the late 19th Century (founded circa 1882) until they were bought by The Globe Files Co. in 1899. Wernicke invented the elastic bookcase and patented the designs.
Once Globe bought Wernicke the famous brand Globe-Wernicke began producing the elastic stack able book cases under patent in the USA. Thomas Turner also started marketing the design in England. Globe-Wernicke then expanded in to Canada, France, Belgium and Austria.
This is a beautiful example dating from circa 1920 to 1930 and presented in a very warm and rich finish. The base section also has a pull out drawer for additional storage, complete with its original and gorgeous handles. The sections retain the original Globe Wernicke labels for authenticity. Each section has the patented up and over door system to access the inside. The Globe Wernicke bookcases are becoming increasingly sought after and this is a really lovely example. With five sections and a drawer, it offers some incredible storage with a real style statement.
All sections easily separate for ease of transportation and moving in to the room of your choice.
Dimensions:
183cm High, 87cm Width, 33cm Max Depth,
Bottom section 34cm high, middle 3 sections 29cm high, top section 24cm high. Max internal storage depth 24cm
