An excellent example of the ever popular Abbess double pedestal desk in Oak. This one has a superb back story too. It was owned since 1986 by a prestigious Music journalist that used the desk to write many articles. He wrote for many of the top UK Magazines including Q, NME, and JazzLife. He won Music Journalist of the year twice! These desks are often referred to as Teacher’s desks and it may have been in a school for 30 years before being acquired by its previous owner.
The desk dates from around the 1950’s and is a superb colour and size. Three drawers to the left hand pedestal and two drawers to the right hand pedestal. The bottom right hand drawer being a double height filing type drawer. This desk also has the central kneehole drawer. There are also two pull out trays, the right hand one being the original Abbess stationery tray. All in all offering lots of really useful storage. We had to sand back and restore the top as it clearly had been used for lots of work and was tired and peeling. It is now fully restored and ready for another 50 years of work and creativity by a lucky new owner.
A great size desk, offering a generous fully functioning workspace but not too large to be difficult to position or accommodate. The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk. With the prestigious back story to boot, it is a fantastic opportunity to get a desk with real soul.

A very rare pair of Japanese bamboo ship’s deck chairs, finely made of bamboo slats, with folding armrests from the mid 20th century (circa late 1940’s-1950’s). The frame and seat slats are made completely from bamboo. They are fully functioning both in supporting weight for sitting and folding flat when required.
We adore the style, the colour and the patina on these chairs. They can be used as patio chairs, conservatory/ orangery but would also make perfect dress chairs for a bedroom, bathroom, hallway etc. Very stylish and very flexible.

A stunning kitchen island handmade by us from 19th Century English Oak and turn of the Century antique pine frame. We love the styling of butcher’s blocks but aren’t so keen on the reality of their original use. So we created the style and practicality from original materials and kept all of the character of antique wood. We think it’s the best of both worlds and love the look and feel of this. A very cute and stylish desk / table by Abbess. Made from a beautifully rich Walnut and walnut veneer it could be used as a desk, if space is tight, a cute dressing table or hall/ console table. It could equally be a great desk for a child or teen. Made around the late 1960’s to early 1970’s it retains the Abbess label inside the drawer and is stamped to the bottom of the drawer. Superb Retro styling and a great colour. A desk/ table with a difference. There is one very small area of missing/ cracked veneer to the bottom left corner of the drawer. Very small indeed but please see photograph for size.

An original school changing/ gym bench dating from circa 1950-60. This one has everything – a beautiful teak seat, original shoes baskets and trolley wheels to the front, original hooks above. Both the wood and metalwork have been refinished to give a fantastic piece, with all the character still remaining. The hooks above are original, in excellent condition and have an almost Art Deco shape/ design to them. Very unusual actually.
Practical, very flexible and super stylish. Impress your visitors with this as the first thing they see in your hallway. Interior Design flair mixed with cool/ relaxed all the way.
