Early 1930’s George V Oak Desk

An amazing desk in solid English oak, dating from the early 1930’s. These desks typically came from a Government office/ Public Service such as Civil Servant Offices, Schools, Railways etc. This desk is in exceptional original condition. The beautiful brass cup handles also carry the GR stamps. The three generous drawers all run freely and have been sanded to their bottoms and cleaned. There are very light cosmetic marks and signs of use to the original green top but it is in exceptional condition for its age (and we have sold a fair few of these desks). Please see photographs.
We have had a number of these George V and George VI desks and they always sell so so quickly.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk.

An amazing desk in solid oak, dating from the 1930’s. These desks typically came from a Government office/ Public Service such as Civil Servant Offices, Schools, Railways etc. This desk came to us form a school in Lincolnshire. It is stamped with GR VI and the crown on the underside of the desk. The beautifully aged brass cup handles are all original. All three drawers run smoothly and have been sanded back to the bottoms and cleaned.
Now presented in a beautifully aged oak colour that only time can offer. The desk top has only very minor cosmetic imperfections (please see photographs). We have had a number of these George V and George VI desks and they always sell so so quickly.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk.

A superb desk in solid English quarter drawn oak, dating from the 1930’s. We adore the grain of the tiger oak – which is actually quarter drawn English oak. Only good quality oak cut well gives this beautiful grain display. These desks typically came from a Government office/ Public Service such as Civil Servant Offices, Schools, Railways etc. The desk is of a great size for home if your are conscious of space or don’t want a huge desk taking over the room. Two gorgeous brass cup handles open the clean central drawer.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk feeling very solid and sturdy.

A superb desk in solid English quarter drawn oak, dating from the 1930’s. These desks typically came from a Government office/ Public Service such as Civil Servant Offices, Schools, Railways etc. This desk is stamped with GR and the crown on the original brass cup handles, together with GR VI and the crown to the underside. All drawers have their original and perfectly aged brass handles. The bottom drawer retains its original working lock and key. There is also a side flap extension to the right hand side should you need a slightly larger work space.

Vintage Teacher’s Desk in Beech & Iroko

An very stylish late 1960’s/ early 1970’s teachers desk very well made form beech and iroko. The desk is a superb size for regular home use. It has been hand made with quality hardwood and dovetail joints to all drawers. The frame is made of beech with a beautiful Iroko top. Very reminiscent of the old hardwood science lab tops. The top has been restored to remove writing and scratch marks, then given the best Osmo oil, satin clear finish. This means the top has been rejuvenated to show off its beautiful grain whilst also having a treatment against spills.
After a full clean and some gentle restoration work it now offers a superb stylish work or study space. A very generous work surface with lots of very clean storage drawers. A rare desk and one that will certainly appreciate in value if cared for.

A very stylish and superbly coloured 1930’s desk in oak. We gently renovated the desk to restore it to its best aged condition. It has come up really well with a super aged oak finish. The desk is nice and compact for home, where space, or access, is a little tight. Although compact the desk offers a generous and very usable work surface space, together with three good sized clean drawers and a pull out shelf for drinks, mouse mat etc. The top drawer is lockable with a working lock and key.

Unusual 1970’s Teachers Desk by ESA / Esavian

A very unusual 1970’s teachers desk produced by the Educations Supplies Authority (ESA), also known as Esavian. ESA were renowned in the 1950’s and 60’s for their stylish but practical school and civil service furniture – predominantly designed by James Leonard. We have found a number of ESA drawers, desk, cupboards etc but have never come across this style of desk before. It is constructed from heavy and solid teak with finger jointed corners to the desk top and dovetail joints to all drawers. It is a very well constructed utilitarian desk designed and made to last. Stamped to the underside with ESA 1977.
After a full clean and some gentle restoration work it now offers a superb stylish work or study space. A very generous work surface with lots of very clean storage drawers. A rare desk and one that will certainly appreciate in value if cared for.
