An amazing desk in solid English oak, dating from 1929. These desks typically came from a Government office/ Public Service such as Civil Servant Offices, Schools, Railways etc. This desk is in beautiful condition with age related marks to the top surface. The desk was owned from new and was the work desk of a father that passed down the desk to his daughter, when he no longer needed it. The beautiful brass cup handles also carry the GR and Crown stamps. The three generous drawers all run freely. There are cosmetic marks and signs of use to the original top but it is in exceptional condition for its age (and we have sold a fair few of these desks). Please see photographs.
We have had a number of these George V and George VI desks and they always sell so so quickly.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk.

A simply stunning solid oak desk handmade by Astrola of London (Hammersmith, W6). It dates from around the late 1940’s to early 1950’s and is in completely original condition but fully cleaned and gently restored by us. It came from the Tax Office in Walsall where it spent its whole life.
Truly stunning heavy English radial cut oak throughout, with dovetails joints to the drawers. All drawers bottom have been sanded back and cleaned.
The build and quality will mean these desks can only appreciate in value if looked after well.
Overall Dimensions: 76.5cm High, 137cm Wide, 76cm Deep (max).
Kneehole: 57cm Wide, 62.5cm min. height clearance.

A simply stunning solid oak desk handmade by Astrola of London (Hammersmith, W6). It dates from around the late 1940’s to early 1950’s and is in completely original condition but fully cleaned and gently restored by us.
Truly stunning heavy English radial cut oak throughout, with through dovetails joints to the pull out drawers and dovetails on the three pedestal drawers. Even the drawer sides are solid mahogany, not the more usual pine. A sign of the quality of this desk. The tambour door works smoothly, as do all drawers and the pull out top shelf to the right pedestal. The roller door is released by pressing the original brass release button. There is a lock but no key.
A beautiful and rare desk that can be used as a decorative/ dress piece or as a fully functioning desk space.
The build and quality will mean these desks can only appreciate in value if looked after well.

A very stylish early 20th Century Arts & Crafts desk in a rich pitch pine colour. We adore the Arts and Crafts heavy brass handles and the size of the piece – not too big for accommodating but a very usable work surface. With an incredible nine drawers for storage it is both incredibly stylish but also very practical. It could also make a beautiful dressing table.

An amazing desk in solid English oak, dating from 1937. These desks typically came from a Government office/ Public Service such as Civil Servant Offices, Schools, Railways etc. This desk is stamped with George VI and the crown on the underside, together with LCC (London County Council). London County Council was the principal local government body for the County of London throughout its existence from 1889 to 1965, and the first London-wide general municipal authority to be directly elected. It covered the area today known as Inner London and was replaced by the Greater London Council.
Now presented in a beautiful rich oak that only time can offer. The desk also retains its original green top in excellent condition for its age. All three drawers run freely with beautiful brass cup handles. We have had a number of these George V and George VI desks and they always sell so quickly.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk.

A gorgeous mid century oak desk handmade by Astrola of London (Hammersmith, W6). It dates from around the late 1940’s to late 1950’s and is in beautiful condition. Fully cleaned and gently restored by us. This desk came to us form a private owner in Buntingford, Hertfordhsire. The family owned it from new and served two generations of studying and working, both parents and children. It presents itself in a beautifully aged oak colour and patina with a really nicely sized work surface for home use. All six drawers un freely and have been cleaned and sanded back internally. The desk also retains the original makers badge on the rear.
The build and quality will mean this desks can only appreciate in value if looked after well.

It is stamped with GR VI and the crown on the underside of the desk. The beautifully aged brass cup handles are all original. All three drawers run smoothly and have been sanded back to the bottoms and cleaned.
Now presented in a beautifully aged oak colour that only time can offer. The desk top has only very minor cosmetic imperfections (please see photographs). We have had a number of these George V and George VI desks and they always sell so so quickly.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk.

An exceptional and rare 1960’s desk handmade by the world renowned Gordon Russell of Broadway. The desk is hand made from high quality oak, which has beautiful grain. All three drawers run easily and have been sanded and cleaned inside. The top drawer has its original working lock and one key. There is also a pull out mouse/ drinks tray above the drawers. At only 53.5cm deep it is perfect for passing through a narrower doorway or staircase.
The build and quality will mean this desk can only appreciate in value if looked after well.
