English Oak Tambour Fronted Desk by Astrola of Hammersmith

£0

FREE Delivery on this desk within approximately 130 miles of Cambridgeshire. Further afield locations will incur a surcharge to send via couriers.

A simply stunning solid oak desk handmade by Astrola of London (Hammersmith, W6). It dates from around the late 1940’s to early 1950’s and is in completely original condition but fully cleaned and gently restored by us.

Truly stunning heavy English radial cut oak throughout, with through dovetails joints to the pull out drawers and dovetails on the three pedestal drawers.  Even the drawer sides are solid mahogany, not the more usual pine. A sign of the quality of this desk. The tambour door  works smoothly, as do all drawers and the pull out top shelf to the right pedestal. The roller door is released by pressing the original brass release button. There is a lock but no key.

A beautiful and rare desk that can be used as a decorative/ dress piece or as a fully functioning desk space.

The build and quality will mean these desks can only appreciate in value if looked after well.

Overall Dimensions: 77cm High, 138cm Wide, 77cm Deep (max).

Central work area: 56cm wide, 66.5cm deep.

Kneehole: 56cm Wide, 59cm min. height clearance.
