1890 Antique Dental Cabinet by Ransom & Randolph

An original and truly stunning antique Dental cabinet dating from 1890. It was produced by The Ransom & Randolph Company in Toledo, Ohio, USA. It is 100% original throughout, apart from 6 handles that we had made bespoke from American Walnut, as the original ones were missing or completely broken. Completely hand made in the finest quality radial cut oak with exquisite details throughout the whole piece. From the stunning brass hinges, to the carving on the top gallery, to the drawer inserts – quality and very fine details are evident throughout the whole cabinet. A true testament to the highest skill of the original craftsmen.
The drawers all run very freely and have been cleaned throughout. Some have minor staining but the majority are very very clean, given its age and previous use as a functioning dental cabinet from a working dentist. The plethora of drawers and cupboards of varying sizes means it could appeal to so many people and uses eg Crafters, wood carvers, sewers, collectors etc etc etc. There is also a very clever and unique locking mechanism that locks every drawer in the top and middle sections by locking the top right mirrored door. Another example of the quality and detail. All locks work exactly as they should. Keep the children and teenagers away from your personal items?
We are unashamedly in love with this cabinet and it has lit up many eyes from the people that have seen the piece in the flesh. Stunning!

A superb example of Globe Wernicke’s stacking ‘elastic’ bookcase. This is in the more rare and better quality oak veneer and radial cut oak, rather than the more common mahogany veneer ones. All glass and brass ware are original, together with the internal iron works for the ‘up and over’ scissor door lifts system. Pretty rare to see this on the Globe Wernicke’s.
Wernicke Co. produced the Elastic bookcase in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the late 19th Century (founded circa 1882) until they were bought by The Globe Files Co. in 1899. Wernicke invented the elastic bookcase and patented the designs.
Once Globe bought Wernicke the famous brand Globe-Wernicke began producing the elastic stack able book cases under patent in the USA. Thomas Turner also started marketing the design in England. Globe-Wernicke then expanded in to Canada, France, Belgium and Austria.

A fantastic solid and heavy oak desk that looks very contemporary and stylish. This desk dates from the late 1920’s to mid 1930’s. It is a beautiful colour and size with plenty of storage within the six drawers. The desk has three drawers to the left pedestal, a central knee hole drawer and a double height filing style drawer to the right pedestal, with a further standard sized drawer above. Both pedestals also have pull out top shelves for drinks, resting books, mouse mat etc. There is one small area of missing veneer to the left hand side panel of the desk. Please see the photographs for detailed condition.
These desk are most commonly referred to as teachers desks now. We have sold a number of these old teachers desks and they never hang around for long.

A very rare pair of Japanese bamboo ship’s deck chairs, finely made of bamboo slats, with folding armrests from the mid 20th century (circa late 1940’s-1950’s). The frame and seat slats are made completely from bamboo. They are fully functioning both in supporting weight for sitting and folding flat when required.
We adore the style, the colour and the patina on these chairs. They can be used as patio chairs, conservatory/ orangery but would also make perfect dress chairs for a bedroom, bathroom, hallway etc. Very stylish and very flexible.
