A very stylish and unique mid century glazed bookcase. Handwritten inside dates the piece to at least 1948. We refinished the carcass in Farrow & Ball Off Black to give it a whole new lease of life and some real interest, via the contrast with the original wood finish. The glass is original, along with a working lock and key. We love the finished piece – nice and compact but packing a real unique style statement. Use it as a bookcase, magazine store, bathroom cabinet, drinks cabinet etc etc. Whatever you need it to be.
Clean lines and mid century styling that offers incredible value for money.

A super cute and stylish mid century glazed bookcase in teak and glass. Produced in the 1960’s it is handmade form teak, with its four original sliding glass doors. The bookcase has all four of it’s original glass sliding doors. There is one glass chip to the edge of the upper glass door (circa 2cm). Not very noticeable until viewing up close but we clearly have to point this out. The chip is reflected in the price.

An excellent example of an original stacking bookcase in oak. Produced around the early to mid 1930’s by Gunn and distributed by Angus of London (W1). This is a really clean and completely original example. It retains the original Gunn makers label on the back of the top section, along with the Angus trademark label . The Gunn Furniture Company originated in Grand Rapids Michigan. Founded by William S Gunn, a furniture workshop was added to his hardware products in 1874. The company passed to his son, William A Gunn after his death in 1909. It became famous for desks and in the 1910s and 20s, the company began to produce sectional bookcases.

A beautiful early 20th Century glazed bookcase in oak. The piece offers lots of storage in its five generous glazed sections. The bookcase is in 5 sections but has been screwed together with its original L brackets, so that the piece can be moved as one piece. The whole piece is presented in beautifully aged warm oak with its original shaped wooden handles too. All five doors simply lift open from the bottom and move very freely. The glass looks like modern replacements – generally due to smashed/ missing original glass or replacement of wood for glass. We love the glass though for sure!

A superb 1960’s large library bookcase in mahogany. The bookcase was handmade circa 1960’s in beautifully grained mahogany. The piece has aged perfectly to a rich warm colour. It is of an impressive size and quality of construction with good deep shelves for larger books and magazines. It also retains all of its rear book stops to make sure the books do not slide straight through the open shelves.
We think the size, quality and flexibility make it a very desirable piece. It can be filled full of books if you are an avid reader or collector. Equally it looks fantastic with a mix of books and decorative pieces. Either way it will make a gorgeous style statement in the room you need it to.
