A very generous and Retro style 1970’s desk in teak veneer. It came to us from a small business office, where it has been since new. We love the proportions, the 70’s styling and the perfect Retro handles. With a large work surface and lots of storage this would make a perfect work from home, study or even small business desk. Plenty of space for very regular use. It is a heavyweight piece and well constructed from teak veneer with steel legs.
There are two pull out shelves to the top of the pedestals one containing the original stationery tray. The bottom right hand drawer is also a double height filing drawer.
Such a great Retro 70’s look!

£0FREE Delivery on this desk. Some more remote and rural areas will incur a charge.
A very different and very stylish early 1970’s desk in iroko wood and teak veneer. We estimate that this was handmade in the 1967’s and has some beautiful grain work to the wood finish. The desk is in a superb colour and made from a heavy solid iroko frame work with teak veneer to the top inset, sides and drawer fronts. It retains all of its original perfectly aged pull handles. The drawers are also solid wood and made from a good quality and weight of wood. We fully cleaned the desk, lightly sanded back the top and gave it a fresh coat of varnish. The size of the desk is perfect for most homes. Not too large to worry about it passing through doorways and stairs etc but large enough to offer a really usable work surface. The four drawers run very freely and are clean internally.
The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk.
We have sold a number of these mid teachers desks and they never hang around for long.

£0FREE Delivery on this desk within 10 working days. More remote and rural locations will incur a charge.
A beautiful desk in solid English oak, dating from the early 20th Century. It dates from around 1900-1920 and carries very distinctive Arts & Crafts movement lines, especially in the turned and tapered legs. It is very well constructed and a good weight for its size; reflecting the quality of oak and carpentry used in its construction. We suspect that the drawer handles are a later addition, though are good quality, heavy and do have some significant age. There is no central kneehole drawer it is a façade only. The top right hand drawer is an unusual box file construction, accessed from the rear of the drawer once removed from the pedestal. The other drawer is a regular, free running drawer (see photographs).
The size of the desk makes it very versatile as an occasional use adult desk, an older child/ teenager’s desk, a console/ hall table, dressing table etc etc.
We think it is a classic ‘keeper’ of a genuine antique desk that will move rooms and interior decor styles over the years.

£0FREE Ground Floor Delivery on this desk within approximately 10 days. Some more remote and rural areas will incur a charge.
A superb large double pedestal desk dating to the late 1920’s to early 1930’s. It is constructed from beautifully aged oak throughout. It came to us directly from a Professor in Suffolk. She owned the desk from the late 1960’s and used it to study for her Masters and PhD through the 1970’s then write lectures etc until she retired very recently. We had to clean and gently restore some of the oak and also re paint the central work surface due to heavy wear and damage. She clearly did a lot of work there!
We love the history of the desk, the ladder back at the rear of the kneehole, and the overall colour and patina. A beautiful antique desk with a real story.
The desk does not disassemble so please measure all door widths and access points (e.g. stairs, turning points) before purchasing.

£0FREE Ground Floor Delivery on this desk. More remote and rural locations will incur a charge.
A truly beautiful desk in solid oak and walnut, dating from 1850 to 1870. It was produced by world renowned craftsmen at Gillows & Co of Lancaster. The stamp of authenticity is present on the top of the left hand drawer (see photograph).
Gillows of Lancaster and London, also known as Gillow & Co., was an English furniture making firm based in Lancaster, Lancashire, and in London. It was founded in Lancaster in about 1730 by Robert Gillow (1704–1772).[1]
Gillows was owned by the family until 1814 when it was taken over by Redmayne, Whiteside, and Ferguson; they continued to use the Gillow name. Gillows furniture was a byword for quality, and other designers used Gillows to manufacture their furniture. Gillows furniture is referred to by Jane Austen, Thackeray and the first Lord Lytton, and in one of Gilbert and Sullivan‘s comic operas.[3][a] In 1903 Gillows merged with Warings of Liverpool to become Waring and Gillow and although the furniture remained of a high quality it was not as prestigious. The desk is made from oak and walnut, solid throughout. It is in completely original condition and beautiful for its age. It will carry some cosmetic marks so please see all photographs for the condition and just ask if you need more shots or detail.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk.
Dimensions:
114cm Wide, 65cm Deep, 71cm High to the work surface area (Gallery 5cm). 56cm knee height clearance (to the underside the drawers)
