Original mid 20th Century changing room/ gym bench. Beautiful patina to both the original wooden slats forming the seat and the underslung wire baskets. The rear legs required extending as the bench was originally fitted over heating pipes. Other than that the piece is completely original. Original legs are metal with all original paint and patina. The rear extensions have been formed from vintage solid wood before being painted black to match.

A very rare pair of Japanese bamboo ship’s deck chairs, finely made of bamboo slats, with folding armrests from the mid 20th century (circa late 1940’s-1950’s). The frame and seat slats are made completely from bamboo. They are fully functioning both in supporting weight for sitting and folding flat when required.
We adore the style, the colour and the patina on these chairs. They can be used as patio chairs, conservatory/ orangery but would also make perfect dress chairs for a bedroom, bathroom, hallway etc. Very stylish and very flexible.

A stunning kitchen island handmade by us from 19th Century English Oak and turn of the Century antique pine frame. We love the styling of butcher’s blocks but aren’t so keen on the reality of their original use. So we created the style and practicality from original materials and kept all of the character of antique wood. We think it’s the best of both worlds and love the look and feel of this. Commissions can be taken to make these to your own specific measurements.

A superb example of Globe Wernicke’s stacking ‘elastic’ bookcase. This is in the more rare and better quality oak veneer and radial cut oak, rather than the more common mahogany veneer ones. All glass and brass ware are original, together with the internal iron works for the ‘up and over’ scissor door lifts system. Pretty rare to see this on the Globe Wernicke’s.
Wernicke Co. produced the Elastic bookcase in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the late 19th Century (founded circa 1882) until they were bought by The Globe Files Co. in 1899. Wernicke invented the elastic bookcase and patented the designs.
Once Globe bought Wernicke the famous brand Globe-Wernicke began producing the elastic stack able book cases under patent in the USA. Thomas Turner also started marketing the design in England. Globe-Wernicke then expanded in to Canada, France, Belgium and Austria.
