A beautiful desk in solid English radial cut oak, dating from the turn of the 19th/20th century. It dates from around 1900-1920 and carries very distinctive Arts & Crafts movement lines and tapered legs. It is very well constructed and a good weight for its size; reflecting the quality of oak and carpentry used in its construction. The leather top is in a superbly aged green colour with gold patterned tooling to the edges. The leather is in exceptional condition for its age. An original oak gallery surrounds the sides and rear of the desk. The handles and locks are stunning quality in perfectly aged weighty brass. The hardware was supplied by Wilks Brothers in Sheffield (Est 1892 and closed in 1956) with stamps to prove. One key is present that operates all locks, so all four drawers are lockable. The left hand drawer is double height for filing. A truly beautiful solid desk oozing antique style and charm. If you re going to work from home, do in in real style. This desk is beautiful to own but also a superb investment desk.
All four drawers run freely and are very clean inside. The desk could also be used as a dressing table, a dress table or console table because it is so beautiful to look at.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk.
There appears to be a small of repair to the front of the central kneehole desk (photographed) and one area of small damage to the front edge (photographed). Small and in no way detracting from the beauty of the desk but we like to point all imperfections out that may affect your decision to purchase.

A very unique and super stylish industrial design desk. The desk came to us with a rotten top and covered in terrible creamy coloured gloss paint. We fully stripped all of the sides of the pedestal and the legs. We managed to save some original ivory paint to the front facias of the two drawers. We also replaced the top with a brand new piece of Swedish birch ply and coated it in satin varnish for protection and resistance to spills etc. We love the finished fusion look. Part stripped, a splash of colour and retention of old paint together with a fresh Swedish birch top offering a generous and very clean work surface. Both drawers are clean and run freely. A superb blend of many good things making this desk completely unique and not something you could buy in the high street shops anywhere.
These mid Century industrial desk are highly sought after. With the condition and size of this desk it is perfect for home or home office where space is a consideration. Not too big to have to worry about accommodating it but plenty big enough for a fully functioning desk.
We love the overall look and style. Mid Century industrial styling at the top of its game!

The leather is in exceptional condition for its age with just one small dark ring mark to the bottom left corner (please see photograph). A beautiful solid desk oozing antique style and charm. Both drawers run freely and have been fully cleaned out. The drawers both have locks but no keys. Should you want keys cut it would be an additional £30 for the locksmiths to take the locks apart and match a key.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb quality antique desk.

An excellent example of the ever popular Abbess double pedestal desk in Oak. These are often referred to as Teacher’s desks but tis came from a private home office of a Manager at Toyota Cars in Warwickshire. This one dates from around 1940 and is a superb original condition. It retains all of its internal drawer locking mechanism. A spring loaded mechanism that locks all 6 drawers when the centre drawer is closed and locked with the key. It is very rare that these original mechanisms are still in tact and working. To unlock all drawers you simply unlock the centre drawer and let it pop out slightly to release all the pedestal drawers. It is in a gorgeous rich colour and a really good size. The original Abbess stationery tray is still present as are all of the brass feet. The feet can be wound out to level the desk on uneven floors or raise the whole desk height by around 30mm (maximum). A very good example indeed.
A great size offering a generous fully functioning desk. The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk.
We have sold a number of these Abbess desks and they never hang around for long.

It also has a very useful extending leaf to the side for extra work surface when required. A superb example of mid century industrial design. This gorgeous green steel desk was produced by Roneo (later to become Roneo Vickers). It dates to the 1960’s and is a very rare example in this condition. It is in completely original green paintwork and is exceptional for the age of the piece and its industrial/ utilitarian heritage. The desk has three very useful drawers, original handles and even the original makers badge on the front of the pedestal. Most desks of this age and style have dents and rusting. The top of this desk is also exceptional when you consider their heavy use over the years and age. There are indentations on the desk and we have taken photos to show the overall condition. A superb example of mid century industrial design. This is a gorgeous compact steel desk by Harvey (Milner). It would date to circa late 1950’s to 1960’s and is a very rare example being produced by the Harvey Milner Company. It is in completely original condition and is exceptional for the age of the piece and its industrial/ utilitarian heritage. The desk has the cutest little drawers and cupboard, original handles and the makers badge on the front. Most desks of this age and style have dents and rusting. The top of this desk is also exceptional when you consider their heavy use over the years and age. This top is as good as we have seen on desk of this style and age.
