This is a beautiful example of a Barrister’s style bookcase in English oak. It dates from around the early 1930’s and offers lots of fantastic storage. It is made from beautifully aged oak and Minty are renowned for their quality stacking bookcases. The bookcase is presented in exceptional condition for its age. The bookcase splits om to 6 different sections for ease of moving to the room of your choice (top, top section, 2nd section, 3rd section, bottom section, bottom base).

A gorgeous 1960’s five tier stacking bookcase by Simplex. The cabinetry is perfectly aged light mahogany. The sections are interchangeable in how you stack them (apart from the bottom and top sections). The sections are graduated in height and depth with the bottom section being the tallest and deepest and also having the rare solid doors. The doors are all usually glass. The bottom section is fantastically sized for plenty of 12″ vinyls!
Super original condition with just one small area having received a couple of ‘dings’. Only noticeable close up but please see photograph for close up. So much storage that was full to the seams of books. It can now be styled exactly as you wish. A piece in this good condition with such clean lines is so flexible and so desirable. A real vintage gem!
Clean lines and mid century styling that makes a real statement. A beautiful quality piece that will only appreciate in value if looked after.

A beautiful example of Globe Wernicke’s stacking ‘elastic’ bookcase. Wernicke Co. produced the Elastic bookcase in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the late 19th Century (founded circa 1882) until they were bought by The Globe Files Co. in 1899. Wernicke invented the elastic bookcase and patented the designs.
Once Globe bought Wernicke the famous brand Globe-Wernicke began producing the elastic stack able book cases under patent in the USA. Thomas Turner also started marketing the design in England. Globe-Wernicke then expanded in to Canada, France, Belgium and Austria.
This is a beautiful example dating from circa 1920 to the early 1930’s and presented in a very warm and rich mahogany finish. The sections retain the original Globe Wernicke labels for authenticity. Each section has the patented up and over door scissor system to access the inside. The Globe Wernicke bookcases are becoming increasingly sought after and this is a really lovely example. With four nice tall sections it offers very flexible storage with a real style statement.
All sections easily separate for ease of transportation and moving in to the room of your choice.

It is in perfectly aged and coloured quarter drawn oak – showing the high quality oak grain. It retains the original Gunn makers label stamped in to the bottom of the bookcase sections. This four-section stacking bookcase has a beautiful carved frieze to the top section and all of its original pull handles. All sections have opening doors on ball catches. Each section can be separated for easy transportation and assembly. We also have a smaller and deeper version of this amazing bookcases available.
The Gunn Furniture Company originated in Grand Rapids Michigan. Founded by William S Gunn, a furniture workshop was added to his hardware products in 1874. The company passed to his son, William A Gunn after his death in 1909. It became famous for desks and in the 1910s and 20s, the company began to produce sectional bookcases.
It can easily be accommodated in to living, dining or bedroom styling. Fantastic and highly desirable, with clean lines that offers incredible value for money.
