An excellent example of the ever popular Abbess double pedestal desk in Oak. These are often referred to as Teacher’s desks but tis came from a private home office of a Manager at Toyota Cars in Warwickshire. This one dates from around 1940 and is a superb original condition. It retains all of its internal drawer locking mechanism. A spring loaded mechanism that locks all 6 drawers when the centre drawer is closed and locked with the key. It is very rare that these original mechanisms are still in tact and working. To unlock all drawers you simply unlock the centre drawer and let it pop out slightly to release all the pedestal drawers. It is in a gorgeous rich colour and a really good size. The original Abbess stationery tray is still present as are all of the brass feet. The feet can be wound out to level the desk on uneven floors or raise the whole desk height by around 30mm (maximum). A very good example indeed.
A great size offering a generous fully functioning desk. The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk.

A very attractive and stylish double pedestal desk dating from the 1950’s. These desks are often referred to as teachers desks. This one is a very unusual design by Partridge & Cooper of Holborn, London, EC1. It is hand made from quality teak throughout, with its original oxblood leather top and bakelite handles. We love the mid century lines that make this an iconic design of the period. The splayed rocket legs are a real design treat! A very stylish and rare desk with lots of work space and plenty of storage space.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb antique desk that looks beautiful.

A very cute mid Century compact desk in oak . These are often referred to as Teacher’s desks. This one dates from the late 1930’s and is in super original condition. It also has a very useful extending leaf to the side for extra work surface when required. This is perfect for where space is tight but you still need a fully functioning and gorgeous vintage teachers desk. The desk has a superb colour and patina. With three really useful drawers and a pull out shelf/ top tray, this desk has all the style and charm you want in its compact size.

A very cute mid Century desk by the ever popular Abbess makers. These are often referred to as Teacher’s desks. This one dates from around 1950 and is a superb colour and size. It also has a very attractive leather top with beautiful gilded detailing to the edges. We have never seen a leather top on these Abbess desks and we have sold a lot. This one is perfect for where space is tight but you still need a fully functioning and gorgeous vintage teachers desk. The desk has a superb oak colour and patina. With three really useful drawers and the original Abbess pull out stationery tray, this desk has all the style and charm you want in its compact size.
The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk. It could equally be a fantastic hall/ console table or dressing table. We added replacement antique brass castors to the legs as the originals were rusted and unusable.

A superb example of mid century industrial design. This gorgeous green steel desk was produced by Roneo (later to become Roneo Vickers). It dates to the 1960’s and is a very rare example in this condition. It is in completely original green paintwork and is exceptional for the age of the piece and its industrial/ utilitarian heritage. The desk has three very useful drawers, original handles and even the original makers badge on the front of the pedestal. Most desks of this age and style have dents and rusting. The top of this desk is also exceptional when you consider their heavy use over the years and age. There are indentations on the desk and we have taken photos to show the overall condition. These mid Century industrial desks are very highly sought after. With the condition and size of this desk it is perfect for the home with plenty of work surface for very regular unrestricted use.

A superb example of mid century industrial design. This is a gorgeous compact steel desk by Harvey (Milner). It would date to circa late 1950’s to 1960’s and is a very rare example being produced by the Harvey Milner Company. It is in completely original condition and is exceptional for the age of the piece and its industrial/ utilitarian heritage. The desk has the cutest little drawers and cupboard, original handles and the makers badge on the front. Most desks of this age and style have dents and rusting. The top of this desk is also exceptional when you consider their heavy use over the years and age. This top is as good as we have seen on desk of this style and age.

A really good old schoolmaster / mistress desk. This came out of a school in Holmfirth in West Yorkshire. It dates from around the 1960’s. The desk offers lots of storage with 7 drawers and the centre kneehole drawer retains its original working lock and one key. The desk has been well used and well loved and carries the cosmetic wear and tear you would expect for a desk of this age form a school. It is however, structurally very sound with all joints firm. The top is also original and in super condition for its age with only one sign of heavy wear to comment on (please see photograph). We love the rich colour of this, together with the well used and tarnished handles and its original deep green top.
A super stylish old school desk and a really good desk for home or work.

Two drawers to the pedestals offering lost of really useful storage, with the bottom drawer being a double height filing type drawer. This style also offers a really useful centre kneehole drawer for even more storage. There is one scratch on the desktop and one chip to one of the handles. Please check all photographs for the condition. Apart from the two cosmetic issues the desk is in very good original condition. A beautiful rich aged oak colour and patina that will just age perfectly.
