A truly exceptional double pedestal desk in teak. These are often referred to as Teacher’s desks. This one dates from around 1940-50 and is in outstanding condition. Three drawers to the left pedestal and a pull out top shelf. Double height ‘filing’ drawer to the right pedestal with drawer and pull out shelf above. There is also a top drawer in the knee hole. All together they offer a huge amount of really useful storage.
A great size offering a generous fully functioning desk but not too large to be difficult to position or accommodate. The colour and condition are exceptional and we have seen a few desks!
We have sold a number of these old teachers desks and they never hang around for long.

An excellent example of the ever popular Abbess double pedestal desk in Oak. These are often referred to as Teacher’s desks. This one dates from around 1940 and is a superb colour and size. Two drawers to both pedestals offering lost of really useful storage. The desk does have four small holes to the right hand corner of one of the drawers. We assume this is where a lock would have been fitted at some point. Please check all photographs for the condition. Apart from those holes the desk is in very good original condition.
A great size offering a generous fully functioning desk but not too large to be difficult to position or accommodate. The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk.
We have sold a number of these Abbess desks and they never hang around for long.

£0A superb example of mid century industrial design. This is an original steel desk by Art Metal of London (SW1). It would date to circa late 1940’s to 1950’s. It is in completely original condition and is exceptional for the age of the piece and its industrial/ utilitarian heritage. The desk has two free running drawers, original handles and the makers metal badge on the front. There is also half of the original suppliers sticker on the front of the desk A.Greensmith & Co. (Hull). All four legs also have the original black steel cap ends, which is very unusual. Most desks of this age and style have them rusted and fallen off.
These mid Century industrial desk are highly sought after. With the condition and size of this desk it is perfect for home or home office.
We love the overall look, colour, patina and condition. A great size for homes too, not too large to make it difficult to accommodate. Mid Century industrial styling at the top of its game!

£0A simply stunning mid century pedestal desk in oak. Dating from the late 1940’s to 1950’s it is constructed from solid oak with a beautiful tambour fronted filing pedestal to the left hand side. All of the pull out filing trays are original and in truly exceptional condition. In the right hand pedestal there are three generously sized and free running drawers. Both pedestals also have pull out trays for resting, drinks, mouse mats etc.
We love the overall shape, colour and condition. Unusual design, top quality radial cut oak and without doubt a fantastic colour. The colour and condition are exactly as you would want an original vintage desk of this age. The size of the desk also makes it very usable without being over powering, or an issue trying to fit through doors and in to your space.
We have sold a number of these vintage pedestal desks and they never hang around for long. Finding them in such good condition is becoming harder and harder.

£0This is a fantastic and completely original mid century double pedestal desk supplied by Withy Grove Stores in Liverpool. It dates from circa 1940-50. Originally With Grove Stores supplied schools, Government Offices and the military. Once high quality but utilitarian this desk is now very desirable, stylish and super practical.
The desks has three drawers to the left pedestal with the top drawer having original lock and key. To the right pedestal is another lockable top drawer (same key) with a double height ‘filing’ type drawer below. Plenty of storage in all five free running drawers.
Made from oak throughout the desk is a fantastic example in amazing condition for its age. We bought it form a professional writer in West Yorkshire that has owned it for the last 20 years. Well loved and treasured.
