£0FREE Ground Floor Delivery on this desk within approximately 10 days. Some more remote and rural areas will incur a charge.
A superb large double pedestal desk dating to the late 1920’s to early 1930’s. It is constructed from beautifully aged oak throughout. It came to us directly from a Professor in Suffolk. She owned the desk from the late 1960’s and used it to study for her Masters and PhD through the 1970’s then write lectures etc until she retired very recently. We had to clean and gently restore some of the oak and also re paint the central work surface due to heavy wear and damage. She clearly did a lot of work there!
We love the history of the desk, the ladder back at the rear of the kneehole, and the overall colour and patina. A beautiful antique desk with a real story.
The desk does not disassemble so please measure all door widths and access points (e.g. stairs, turning points) before purchasing.

152cm Wide, 81cm Deep, 78cm High

A beautiful double pedestal desk in oak, hand made by a woodwork teacher in the 1950’s for his own home in Wiltshire. The desk displays some superb oak grain with a fantastically aged colour and patina. The desk has a very generous workspace but is not too bog for most people to be able to accommodate. The depth of the desk does pass through a standard width door. There is one old repair to the top right hand corner of the central drawer (please see photograph). It has been repaired well and is solid. The line is cosmetic but we must point it out for transparency.
With three free ruining drawers and a very generous pedestal cupboard the desk offers lots of very versatile storage. The top drawer locks, as does the pedestal cupboard. Both keys are present.
A beautiful desk that will age perfectly.
