An unusually sized original mid century glazed bookcase/ unit/ sideboard in Teak. Produced in the 1960’s, we can not find a maker’s label but the cabinet has a really good weight and also some really nice brass ware. The door hinges are fully hinged piano hinges, adding to a quality construction feel. The size is unusual in that it is quite tall but slim. Ideal for an alcove or somewhere that is restricted on the width available.
Both the top and bottom shelves are easily adjustable, or removable, by simply moving the wooden support pegs to different holes. Or removing the shelves completely, should you need to. Both doors slide easily and are free from chips. There are some age related cosmetic marks but you would have to be looking hard to find them and we have photographed anything, so please check all photos carefully for the condition. If you need any further close ups or have any questions, just ask us.
We think the piece offers lots of flexible storage capabilities as a bookcase, drinks cabinet. sideboard, display unit etc. It can easily be accommodated in to living, dining or bedroom styling. Fantastic and highly desirable mid century styling at such a great value for money price.

An excellent example of an original mid century low glazed bookcase/ unit/ sideboard in Teak (not teak veneer). Produced in the 1950’s and 60’s by Herbert & Gibbs this is solid, completely original and in great condition. It is from their Autograph range, complete with the brass metal plate of authenticity to the rear; showing the autograph and serial number. Original shelves and original glass.
At 84.5cm high it offers lots of flexible storage capabilities as a bookcase, drinks cabinet. sideboard, TV Stand, Media Unit etc. It can easily be accommodated in to living, dining or bedroom styling. A stunning mid century five tier stacking bookcase by Simplex. The cabinetry is in beautiful mahogany but light colour, more like a medium oak. It was purchased by a lecturer in Engineering and Mathematics at Birmingham University. It has then sat in the same spot for the last circa 60 years. Beautiful original condition with all original glass. So much storage that was full to the seams of books. It can now be styles exactly as you wish. A piece in this good condition with such clean lines is so flexible and so desirable. A real vintage gem!

£0An excellent example of an original mid century glazed bookcase, produced by Staverton in the 19650’s. This one is clearly stamped 1956 on the back to date it accurately (please see photographs). It is produced from high quality radial cut English oak and oak veneer with ply internals and section dividers. All of the glass is complete with no cracks. The condition is excellent for the year but there are some old marks to the left hand side. These are purely cosmetic and have marked the veneer only. The right hand side is not marked.
With it’s simple lines, quality of oak and carpentry it is a beautiful vintage classic. These glazed Staverton bookcases are pretty rare now. Our pricing research could not find any others for sale. Previous sold prices were £1199-1384.
