A original antique drinks cabinet with beautiful astragal glazing to the doors. The cabinetry is in very good original condition and a superbly aged walnut colouring. All of the glass in the doors is original too, along with the original internal bolts, lock and key. It was hand produced by highly skilled craftsmen around 1920-30, being typical Edwardian styling, sat on Queen Anne style legs. It was owned by one family since new. Plenty of beautiful storage for books, drinks, display items etc.
This cabinet is presented in perfectly aged walnut. There are some small glass chips to the leading edge of the shelves (circa 8) but we thought it best to leave as completely original rather than have new shelves cut and polished just for these minor cosmetic marks, that can not be seen easily – and not at all when the doors are closed. We re-finished the back and bottom in Farrow & Ball Wevet eggshell. This gave the piece a contemporary facelift to bring it bang on trend for 2022. What a perfectly gorgeous gin cabinet? It would be very hard to find a more beautiful example than this?
Dimensions:
121cm High to unit top (128cm to top of rear gallery), 118cm Max Width, 35cm Max Depth (centre of the cabinet)

A stunning example of a mid century low glazed book case or drinks cabinet by Minty of Oxford. Minty produced some really nice quality bookcases from the early 20th Century to the late 20th Century, usually in oak. We have not come across this style or size from them before. It is made from solid walnut with a really nice weight to it, reflective of the quality. All shelves and doors are original and working exactly as they should be. The shelves are adjustable in height by moving the supports up or down within the unit. The bookcase is set on superbly styled legs and lower sub frame.
Very stylish and super on trend at the moment.

A beautiful glazed bookcase/ cabinet with very elegant lines and astragal glazing to the doors. We estimate the piece to have been made between the late 1940’s and late 1950’s but very much in a classic Edwardian style. It has some very typical astragal glazing pattern of Edwardian cabinets, tapered legs and fluted framework. The cabinetry is in super original condition. All of the glass in the doors is original too, along with the original handles and push button opening latches. With three internal shelves (top two are removable) it offers some very stylish and super flexible storage.
This cabinet is presented in perfectly aged mahogany. There are some small cosmetic scratches on the internal shelves, mainly on the top shelf, as photographed. Please see photographs. We re-finished the back in a white finish to give the piece a contemporary facelift and bring it bang on trend for 2022. What a perfectly gorgeous bookcase, drinks cabinet, gin cabinet etc?

£0FREE Ground Floor Shipping on this item within 10 working days. Far afield and rural areas will incur a charge.
A truly unique mid Century cabinet privately commissioned for a Client and hand made by Waring & Gillows of Lancaster. The cabinet was commissioned in the 1960’s to the Client’s bespoke requirements. Hand drawings are included within the sale for provenance and authenticity.
Gillows of Lancaster and London, also known as Gillow & Co., was an English furniture making firm based in Lancaster, Lancashire, and in London. It was founded in Lancaster in about 1730 by Robert Gillow (1704–1772).[1]
Gillows was owned by the family until 1814 when it was taken over by Redmayne, Whiteside, and Ferguson; they continued to use the Gillow name. Gillows furniture was a byword for quality, and other designers used Gillows to manufacture their furniture. Gillows furniture is referred to by Jane Austen, Thackeray and the first Lord Lytton, and in one of Gilbert and Sullivan‘s comic operas.[3][a] In 1903 Gillows merged with Warings of Liverpool to become Waring and Gillow. There are the tell tell signs of Waring & Gillow quality production throughout. It is finished in mahogany with very heavy glass shelves and beautiful brass handles. The quality of the carving on the feet is quite exceptional and in outstanding original condition. The brass lock is even stamped with Waring & Gillow and works exactly as it should. The shelves are adjustable via internal wooden pegs.
A truly beautiful and unique piece of furniture ready for a new owner to treasure.

A beautiful original Edwardian linen cabinet that we fully refinished in Farrow & Ball Hague Blue Estate Emulsion. The cabinet has also received a final protective coat of clear wax. We love the finished effect. A contemporary update to a classic piece with pretty original handles and very useful storage. We have styled the piece as a bathroom cabinet but it could easily be a gin cabinet, hall cupboard for shoes and/ or magazines etc etc. Very flexible storage that keeps its contents beautifully hidden away. The door is also lockable via the original lock and one key. The two drawers below offer even more storage. Both drawers run freely.
Stylish, well made, great to look at and really useful. Exactly what we love to offer.

A super example of a 1960’s mirror back drinks cabinet in teak. All of the glass in the doors is original too, along with the original glass shelves and supports. Only one shelf is shown in the photographs but it comes with two shelves and eight shelf supports should you want more shelving inside.
