An excellent example of the ever popular Abbess desk in Oak. These are often referred to as Teacher’s desks. This one dates from around 1950 and is a superb rich colour and size. Two drawers to the pedestals offering lost of really useful storage, with the bottom drawer being a double height filing type drawer. This desk also has its original screw out brass feet to level the desk for uneven floors or give an extra 2cm of height, if required.
We fully cleaned and restored this one to its former glory. Please check all photographs for the condition. A beautiful rich aged oak colour and patina that will just age perfectly. The size is perfect if you have smaller space or want to create a work space, rather than a dedicated study or home office room.
We have sold a number of these Abbess desks and they never hang around for long.

A very popular and stylish desk by Abbess. Made from oak frame and oak veneer top with a beautifully rich and original colour and patina. The desk is in completely original condition with the Abbess makers label still (predominantly) in tact to the front of the desk, Abbess stamp to the inside of the top drawer and even the original brass feet for levelling the desk on uneven floors. These desks are often referred to as Teachers desks and are incredibility popular. Whenever we manage to find one it gets snapped up very quickly.
This one is a great size for home/ home office/ study. Not too large but a really useful size work space.

An excellent example of the ever popular Abbess double pedestal desk in Oak. This one has a superb back story too. It was owned since 1986 by a prestigious Music journalist that used the desk to write many articles. He wrote for many of the top UK Magazines including Q, NME, and JazzLife. He won Music Journalist of the year twice! These desks are often referred to as Teacher’s desks and it may have been in a school for 30 years before being acquired by its previous owner.
The desk dates from around the 1950’s and is a superb colour and size. Three drawers to the left hand pedestal and two drawers to the right hand pedestal. The bottom right hand drawer being a double height filing type drawer. This desk also has the central kneehole drawer. There are also two pull out trays, the right hand one being the original Abbess stationery tray. All in all offering lots of really useful storage. We had to sand back and restore the top as it clearly had been used for lots of work and was tired and peeling. It is now fully restored and ready for another 50 years of work and creativity by a lucky new owner.
A great size desk, offering a generous fully functioning workspace but not too large to be difficult to position or accommodate. The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk. With the prestigious back story to boot, it is a fantastic opportunity to get a desk with real soul.
We have sold a number of these Abbess desks and they never hang around for long. Especially not in this colour with history.

Three drawers to both pedestals offering lost of really useful storage. The top drawer of the right hand pedestal has a working lock and two keys.
A great size offering a generous fully functioning desk but not too large to be difficult to position or accommodate. The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk. There is one old burn mark on the top of the desk, approximately 3cm long and 0.5cm wide (please see photograph). Purely cosmetic but we have photographed to show the true condition.
We have sold a number of these Abbess desks and they never hang around for long. Especially not in this colour and condition.

A very cute and stylish desk / table by Abbess. Made from a beautifully rich Walnut and walnut veneer it could be used as a desk, if space is tight, a cute dressing table or hall/ console table. It could equally be a great desk for a child or teen. Made around the late 1960’s to early 1970’s it retains the Abbess label inside the drawer and is stamped to the bottom of the drawer. Superb Retro styling and a great colour. A desk/ table with a difference. There is one very small area of missing/ cracked veneer to the bottom left corner of the drawer. Very small indeed but please see photograph for size.

This style also offers a really useful centre kneehole drawer for even more storage. The Abbess makers label are still in tact to the exterior of the drawer pedestal, stamped in the bottom of the kneehole drawer and also impressed in to the stationery tray. The desk is in really solid original condition with only the top needing a good clean and gentle refurbishment. Please check all photographs for the condition and ask if you have any further questions.
