A fantastic late 19th Century reversible back Tram bench. This is a heavyweight bench with solid iron framework and back supports. The seating an back rest are very thick antique pitch pine in the perfectly aged colour and patina. The back of these benches can be reversed so that seating is possible from either side of the bench. They are a gorgeous piece of history and now make a superb hall bench, dining bench or garden bench. You choose!

An early 20th Century hardwood side table hand carved with elephants head and trunks as legs. A well constructed table with an unusual but vey popular style. Most probably carved in South East Asia originally, it has a beautifully aged ebonised colouring with original wood colour showing through in patches. Perfect patination from use. The top has splits where the original top was formed from planks rather than one solid piece of timber, but the table is solid and free from wobbles. We love it exactly as it is, in totally original condition, so we did not want to repair or restore and lose the gorgeous patina. All three elephants heads have both trunks in tact.
We think this is now a highly desirable and superbly stylish piece that would add a touch of chic to a variety of rooms/ interiors. It could be used as a side table for drinks, books, magazines etc or a lamp table or even a plant stand or towel table in the bathroom. A classic but very stylish piece.

A superb example of Globe Wernicke’s stacking ‘elastic’ bookcase. This is in the more rare and better quality oak veneer and radial cut oak, rather than the more common mahogany veneer ones. All glass and brass ware are original, together with the internal iron works for the ‘up and over’ scissor door lifts system. Pretty rare to see this on the Globe Wernicke’s.
Wernicke Co. produced the Elastic bookcase in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the late 19th Century (founded circa 1882) until they were bought by The Globe Files Co. in 1899. Wernicke invented the elastic bookcase and patented the designs.
Once Globe bought Wernicke the famous brand Globe-Wernicke began producing the elastic stack able book cases under patent in the USA. Thomas Turner also started marketing the design in England. Globe-Wernicke then expanded in to Canada, France, Belgium and Austria.
