A very stylish and solid mid century oak desk handmade in oak. It dates from around the mid 1950’s and is in completely original condition but fully cleaned and gently restored by us. These are often referred to as old teachers desks but this one cam out of a post office in rural Warwickshire, where it spent its entire life. It presents itself in a beautiful golden oak colour and patina with a really nicely sized work surface for home use. With six free running drawers there is also a lot of very useful storage space. The bottom right hand drawer is a double height deep filing type drawer for extra storage.
English oak with quality dovetails joints to all five pedestal drawers. The drawer internals are also very clean.
The build and quality will mean these desks can only appreciate in value if looked after well.
Overall Dimensions: 76cm High, 136.5m Wide, 75cm Deep
Kneehole: 50cm Wide, 61cm height clearance (at the centre), sloping to 59.5cm high at the sides of the kneehole.

A very attractive and stylish double pedestal desk dating from the 1950’s. These desks are often referred to as teachers desks. This one is a very unusual design by Partridge & Cooper of Holborn, London, EC1. It is hand made from quality teak throughout, with its original oxblood leather top and bakelite handles. We love the mid century lines that make this an iconic design of the period. The splayed rocket legs are a real design treat! A very stylish and rare desk with lots of work space and plenty of storage space.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb antique desk that looks beautiful.

A very attractive and stylish double pedestal desk dating from the 1930’s. These desks are often referred to as teachers desks. This one is in beautifully aged oak finish, not too dark or light – just right! It has six free running and clean drawers in total. The bottom drawer of the right hand pedestal is a double height filing drawer. A super desk with lots of work space and huge storage space. All handles are original and worn perfectly. The brass feet tips to each of the legs are also original and a very nice finishing feature, marking the quality of hand manufacture.
The desk does dismantle for ease of moving through doorways, carrying upstairs etc. but please let us know if you would like the desk delivered fully assembled or taken down to its parts (top, two pedestals, two cross retaining bars). All very simple for anybody to reassemble. Or we can do it for a small fee, if required.
This will only get better with age and appreciate in value. A superb antique desk that looks beautiful.

A very stylish 1960’s double pedestal desk handmade by Burndale (British). It dates from the 1960’s and is in completely original condition but fully cleaned and checked by us. It presents itself in a beautifully aged colour and patina with a really nicely sized work surface for home use. With the generous dimensions of the desk it is a very practical desk for regular use . It does not disassemble though so please check measurements carefully for where you would like to position the desk.
The left pedestal contains three generous free running drawers with a pull out stationery tray above. The right pedestal has a double height bottom ‘filing’ type drawer, single drawer above and a pull out tray/ shelf to the top. Super stylish and incredibly practical!

It dates from around the late 1940’s to early 1950’s and is in completely original condition but fully cleaned and gently restored by us. It presents itself in a beautifully aged colour and patina with a really nicely sized work surface for home use. With the dimensions of the desk it is a vey useable desk without taking up too much space. At 57cm deep it will also pass easily through most doorways, so that positioning should not be a major issue. With four free running drawers there is also a lot of very useful storage space.
English radial cut oak with through dovetails joints to the pull out drawers and dovetails on the three pedestal drawers.

A very cute mid Century desk by the ever popular Abbess makers. These are often referred to as Teacher’s desks. This one dates from around 1950 and is a superb colour and size. It also has a very attractive leather top with beautiful gilded detailing to the edges. We have never seen a leather top on these Abbess desks and we have sold a lot. This one is perfect for where space is tight but you still need a fully functioning and gorgeous vintage teachers desk. The desk has a superb oak colour and patina. With three really useful drawers and the original Abbess pull out stationery tray, this desk has all the style and charm you want in its compact size.
The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk. It could equally be a fantastic hall/ console table or dressing table. We added replacement antique brass castors to the legs as the originals were rusted and unusable.
We have sold a number of these Abbess desks and they never hang around for long.
