This gym bench dates to around the late 1950’s to mid 1960’s. It came from a school in Solihull. The bench is completely original but we refurbished the top as it was all stained and peeling of varnish. We kept as much of the original wear and colour as we could. It retains a beautiful colour and now has a nice clean sheen too. We also re-sprayed the legs as they were all paint splashed in white paint. The baskets retain all the signs of decades of use and wear – again perfectly aged to show their authenticity. All the perfect old school styling ready for a contemporary new home.
These are very popular benches and we are finding it harder and harder to get them like this. Every time we manage to find one it flies out to another very happy customer.

This bench is mid Century, circa 1960’s from and old school/ gym changing rooms. The bench is well made, by hand, with dovetail joints to mark the quality of construction and to give a solid sturdy seat. The shoe baskets are made from thick grade galvanised steel with the perfectly aged colour and wear. The bench is a great size and has a really good weight to make it useable for everyday use in a hallway, entrance, boot room etc. It could even be a wine rack with a difference?! Or a TV stand too.

This bench is an old school/ gym bench with original shoe baskets below. It dates to around the 1960’s but we had to make up some new steel legs as the original ones were rusted and had no rear legs, due to being fitted over radiator pipes. It is of good heavyweight construction with a solid beech slatted bench top, steel legs and galvanised shoe baskets. We love the style and quality.

This gym bench dates to around the late 1960’s to mid 1970’s. It has ALL of the gorgeous old school/ gym style in a compact package. The bench is inly 98cm wide and 25cm deep. Perfect for a narrow hallway or where space is tight? We mounted matching numbered hooks on a board at 98cm wide to fix above the bench too. The listing is for both the bench and kooks board. The hooks are original 1960’s too. They offer lots of hanging space as the hooks have two big hooks each. Along with the numbers this package offers perfect old school styling and practicality but in a compact and super cute package.

This gym/ changing bench dates to around the early to mid 1970’s and came to us from a school in East London. It is in amazing condition for its age. Constructed from steel box section and solid teak throughout it has really good solid weight and looks fantastic. It is in completely original condition. We just gave it a good clean, and teak oiled the wood for replenishment and refresh.
This piece has all the superb old school styling you could want and a really cute size. A perfect way of tidying up a smaller hallway or children’s bedroom whilst adding a real style statement.

The size make s a real statement and would be perfect for a long hallway at home or a business reception area. The baskets are unusually large, allowing size 11+ shoes to be easily accommodated and also tall enough to fit ankle boots. The top has perfectly aged wear but presents a beautiful colour and sheen. This gym bench dates to around the mid to late 1950’s. It is a very rare find being produced by ESA. Esavian – ESA – was the brand name for the Education Supply Association Ltd. They produced a lot of Post War school and industrial mid century furniture. Most people know the furniture from school as a lot of it was produced in the 1950s and 60s. James Leonard designed a lot of the ESA beech and ply furniture.
This bench is in super original condition both in the beech framework and the true and square shoes baskets. Most of the baskets get bent or broken over the years but this one is in really good, straight condition, with perfect aged patina to the metal work. Please note this is around 60 years old and will bear signs of use and wear. Please see all photographs for the true condition before purchasing. It has all the original style and character, ready for another 60+ years of use.
