£0FREE Delivery on this item. More remote and rural locations will incur a charge.
We are very pleased to be able to bring this rare antique piece to our website. It is simply stunning. Manufactured by Globe Wernicke around the early 1930’s it would have been sat in a warehouse office for filing in the drawers and storage of details on index cards. It is manufactured from radial cut, top quality oak and oak veneer (sides). The brass ware on the front is original and has been fully cleaned. It is quite simply the best example of aged handles and brass label holders that we have see. And we have seen a lot of pieces!
The cabinet sits on a later (mid century) base. There are inevitable signs of use and damage. Mainly the original stop is heavily marked and stained. We could add new leather to the top if you prefer. We love the original top the most – even though it has the marks. Some of the brass side bandings are missing (see photographs). However, given the age and its previous use we think it is remarkable to have survived in such amazing condition. It is the front view that stops everybody in their tracks to admire the beauty of the piece as a whole.
This piece raises so many comments and can only get better with age – plus appreciate in value.
Rare, beautiful and completely timeless.
Dimensions: 160cm High (including the base), 107cm Wide, 34cm Deep
