An excellent example of the ever popular Abbess double pedestal desk in Oak. These are often referred to as Teacher’s desks. This one dates from around 1940 and is a superb colour and size. Two drawers to both pedestals offering lost of really useful storage.
A great size offering a generous fully functioning desk but not too large to be difficult to position or accommodate. The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk.
We have sold a number of these Abbess desks and they never hang around for long.

A fantastic solid and heavy oak desk that looks very contemporary and stylish. This desk dates from the late 1920’s to mid 1930’s. It is a beautiful colour and size with good storage within the two pull out drawers. The desk also has beautifully aged brass cup handles. With dovetail joints to the drawers and quality carpentry throughout it was clearly hand made by a skilled craftsman. The quality of the oak and weight of the desk are also a testament to its quality and mission of being built to last. The desk is in exceptional condition, save for a couple of old watermarks to the top surface. Please see the photographs for detailed condition.

A fantastic solid and heavy oak desk that looks very contemporary and stylish. This desk dates from the late 1920’s to mid 1930’s. It is a beautiful colour and size with plenty of storage within the six drawers. The desk has three drawers to the left pedestal, a central knee hole drawer and a double height filing style drawer to the right pedestal, with a further standard sized drawer above. Both pedestals also have pull out top shelves for drinks, resting books, mouse mat etc. There is one small area of missing veneer to the left hand side panel of the desk. A beautiful antique desk that looks very contemporary and stylish. This desk dates from the later part of the 19th Century (circa 1870-1890) and is therefore Victorian in origin. It is a beautifully coloured and aged oak with the most perfectly aged brass original handles. The weight of the desk is testament to the quality of oak used and the quality when originally produced, by skilled craftsmen.
The desk has plenty of storage with three drawers to the left pedestal, a central knee hole drawer and a double height filing style drawer to the right pedestal, with a further standard sized drawer above. Both pedestals also have pull out top shelves for drinks, resting books, mouse mat etc.

A truly exceptional double pedestal desk in teak. These are often referred to as Teacher’s desks. This one dates from around 1940-50 and is in outstanding condition. Three drawers to the left pedestal and a pull out top shelf. Double height ‘filing’ drawer to the right pedestal with drawer and pull out shelf above. There is also a top drawer in the knee hole. All together they offer a huge amount of really useful storage.

We assume this is where a lock would have been fitted at some point. Please check all photographs for the condition. Apart from those holes the desk is in very good original condition.

£0A simply stunning mid century pedestal desk in oak. Dating from the late 1940’s to 1950’s it is constructed from solid oak with a beautiful tambour fronted filing pedestal to the left hand side. All of the pull out filing trays are original and in truly exceptional condition. In the right hand pedestal there are three generously sized and free running drawers. Both pedestals also have pull out trays for resting, drinks, mouse mats etc.
We love the overall shape, colour and condition. Unusual design, top quality radial cut oak and without doubt a fantastic colour. The colour and condition are exactly as you would want an original vintage desk of this age. The size of the desk also makes it very usable without being over powering, or an issue trying to fit through doors and in to your space.
We have sold a number of these vintage pedestal desks and they never hang around for long. Finding them in such good condition is becoming harder and harder.

Read moreRare 1930’s Double Pedestal Desk in Oak by Globe Wernicke
£0A very rare early 20th Century double pedestal desk in oak by Globe Wernicke. Globe Wernicke were world renowned for producing their stacking Barristers’ bookcases in the first half of the 20th Century, following their buy out of Wernicke (Minneapolis) in 1899. The production of Globe Wernicke desks was in much smaller quantities and finding examples in good condition is becoming very rare indeed.
This double pedestal desk is made from their highest grade radial cut oak, which they used exclusively for their premium end range of office furniture. Manufactured in the early 1930’s, it is presented in its original colour and finish with the original leather top and original brass drop handles. The leather is in excellent condition given 90 years of use, though there is one small patch which has worn through (circa 15mm x 10mm).
Now offering fantastic style with lots of storage space it is a very desirable and stylish desk with beautiful handles. The left pedestal offers four free running drawers whilst the right pedestal has a marvellously deep filing drawer with two drawers above.
With continued care and attention this rare desk can surely only appreciate in value. A superb time to buy this rare gem.
