A very unusual 1970’s teachers desk produced by the Educations Supplies Authority (ESA), also known as Esavian. ESA were renowned in the 1950’s and 60’s for their stylish but practical school and civil service furniture – predominantly designed by James Leonard. We have found a number of ESA drawers, desk, cupboards etc but have never come across this style of desk before. It is constructed from heavy and solid teak with finger jointed corners to the desk top and dovetail joints to all drawers. It is a very well constructed utilitarian desk designed and made to last. Stamped to the underside with ESA 1977.
After a full clean and some gentle restoration work it now offers a superb stylish work or study space. A very generous work surface with lots of very clean storage drawers. A rare desk and one that will certainly appreciate in value if cared for.
