Superb Mid Century Industrial Steel Desk by Sheer Pride

A pretty exceptional example of mid century industrial design by Sheep Pride (England). It dates from the late 1950’s to mid 1960’s and is a rare find in this condition. We have sourced many industrial desks but this is certainly one of the best we have found! It is in completely original green paintwork and is exceptional condition for the age of the piece and its industrial/ utilitarian heritage. The desk has six drawers in total, all with original handles, perfectly aged in brass. Most desks of this age and style have dents and rusting. The top of this desk is also very when you consider their heavy use over the years and age. The top does have a few cosmetic issues. There is a small ding to the steel edging (circa 2cm), a quirky repair in leather to the front right edge (10cm wide x 1cm deep) and a rear corner repair, again in leather (14cm diagonal, 4 cm at deepest point – easily hidden by a desk lamp, vase etc.) Please see extensive photographs for the exact condition and just ask if you need any more detail. All drawers are very clean and run smoothly. The bottom right hand drawer is a double height filing drawer. A solid desk of great quality and a real stand out piece of industrial design.
These mid Century industrial desks are very highly sought after. With the condition and size of this desk it is perfect for the home with plenty of work surface for regular unrestricted use.

A fantastic solid and heavy oak desk that looks very contemporary and stylish. This desk dates from the late 1920’s to mid 1930’s. It is a beautiful colour and size with plenty of storage within the six drawers. The desk has three drawers to the left pedestal, a central knee hole drawer and a double height filing style drawer to the right pedestal, with a further standard sized drawer above. Both pedestals also have pull out top shelves for drinks, resting books, mouse mat etc. There is one small area of missing veneer to the left hand side panel of the desk. These desk are most commonly referred to as teachers desks now. We have sold a number of these old teachers desks and they never hang around for long.

A very cute and stylish desk / table by Abbess. Made from a beautifully rich Walnut and walnut veneer it could be used as a desk, if space is tight, a cute dressing table or hall/ console table. It could equally be a great desk for a child or teen. Made around the late 1960’s to early 1970’s it retains the Abbess label inside the drawer and is stamped to the bottom of the drawer. Superb Retro styling and a great colour. A desk/ table with a difference. There is one very small area of missing/ cracked veneer to the bottom left corner of the drawer. Very small indeed but please see photograph for size.

An early 20th Century hardwood side table hand carved with elephants head and trunks as legs. A well constructed table with an unusual but vey popular style. Most probably carved in South East Asia originally, it has a beautifully aged ebonised colouring with original wood colour showing through in patches. Perfect patination from use. The top has splits where the original top was formed from planks rather than one solid piece of timber, but the table is solid and free from wobbles. We love it exactly as it is, in totally original condition, so we did not want to repair or restore and lose the gorgeous patina. All three elephants heads have both trunks in tact.
We think this is now a highly desirable and superbly stylish piece that would add a touch of chic to a variety of rooms/ interiors. It could be used as a side table for drinks, books, magazines etc or a lamp table or even a plant stand or towel table in the bathroom. A classic but very stylish piece.
