A beautifully designed and produced Art Deco dressing table by Waring & Gillow. Waring & Gillow (established 1897) were very well regarded and established producers of fine quality furniture. Throughout their history Waring & Gillow secured contracts for a number of luxury yachts and liners. These included the interior fittings of HM Alberta (1901) after Queen Victoria’s death, the royal steam yacht Victoria and Albert III, the interior of the Princesse Alice (1895) for Prince Albert of Monaco, the Lysistrata (1901) for James Gordon Bennett, the P&O liner, the Viceroy of India (1929), and the Queen Mary (1936).

Like other prestigious furniture retailers of the Victorian era, Waring & Gillow also secured furnishing contracts for a number of new luxury hotels that were being constructed in the capital. These included the Carlton Hotel, the Waldorf and the Ritz.

This beautiful dressing table was produced in the 1930’s and very much of the Art Deco movement influence. It has a good quality weight having been made from beautiful walnut and burr walnut. The mirror is completely original and free from any chips or noticeable scratches. There are a few spots of foxing to the bottom left (see photograph). All of the handles and glass shelves are original. The condition and the walnut grain are exceptional. It is a beautiful and pretty unique piece that is also of a size to make it very easy to accommodate in the room of your choice.
