Early Georgian Settle Bench in Walnut and Oak

£0

FREE delivery on this bench within approximately 150 miles of Cambridgeshire. Further afield, remote and rural areas will incur a charge.

A stunning settle bench dating from approximately 1790 to 1810. The settle has been expertly hand made in a walnut frame with oak back panel inserts; and walnut marquetry. The quality of the piece is highly evident in the quality of the turning and shaping in the arms and legs. Expertly carved, shaped and rounded by true craftsmen. The walnut has aged beautifully with all of the original patina and wear on the back panels and arms. The bench is heavy and structurally solid to all joints. It is totally original throughout but two of the rear panel inserts have vertical splits (very common from shrinkage in modern centrally heated houses). There is also an old repair to the upper section of the arm. Repaired well and colour blended. For its age it is in very good original antique condition. The seat has been re-upholstered in a complementary dark gold velvet fabric. We adore the age, the colour and original patina of this bench. A superb bench that should be adored and treasured as it gets even better with the years.

Dimensions:

178.5cm Wide, 103cm Back Height, Max Depth 67cm

Seat height 43cm, Seat Depth 54cm
