Early 20th Century Bench in Original Paint

A very pretty European wooden bench in original paint. The bench had been coated in a custard yellow gloss which we had to strip back by hand to reveal the beautiful blue underneath. It dates from around the 1930’s, with great signs of wear that add to it’s character. Truly beautiful original paint and patina which would be a very stylish addition to any room.
Use as a hallway bench, at a dining table or even outside. Very flexible.

A beautiful and very stylish late 19th Century Victorian glazed dresser / bookcase in original walnut finish. It dates from around 1880 to 1900 and has beautifully aged original cabinetry, glass, brass ware, locks and key for both sections. This came from a private Client home in SW London where it lived through three generations, owned by the same family. It is very stylish, classic and flexible in design and very flexible to match a vast array of room styles. The colour is superb having aged beautifully over the last 120 years+.
We think it would also make a fantastic individual bookcase/ dresser or kitchen / diner cabinet. The piece is tall though and does not split in to two sections for transportation. The bookcase stands at 231cm tall so please check your ceiling heights carefully before purchasing. This is an impressive size that will certainly commands lots of attention and only appreciate in value.

A superb example of Globe Wernicke’s stacking ‘elastic’ bookcase. This is in the more rare and better quality oak veneer and radial cut oak, rather than the more common mahogany veneer ones. All glass and brass ware are original, together with the internal iron works for the ‘up and over’ scissor door lifts system. Pretty rare to see this on the Globe Wernicke’s.
Wernicke Co. produced the Elastic bookcase in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the late 19th Century (founded circa 1882) until they were bought by The Globe Files Co. in 1899. Wernicke invented the elastic bookcase and patented the designs.
Once Globe bought Wernicke the famous brand Globe-Wernicke began producing the elastic stack able book cases under patent in the USA. Thomas Turner also started marketing the design in England. Globe-Wernicke then expanded in to Canada, France, Belgium and Austria.
