A simple and gorgeous Victorian school bench in antique pitch pine. It came to us from a school in Liverpool but needed some serious cleaning and restoration on the finish. It now offers a beautiful seat that would style up any hallway, boot room, utility room etc. All joints are solid and the bench is now fully cleaned and ready to place wherever you need it.

A fantastic and really good sized old school shoe bench. It comes in its original finish of painted metal with a beautifully grained iroko top. The metalwork has all the perfectly aged signs of wear and use over the last 60+ years, possible re-painted at some point but certainly not recently. We sanded back the top (removed the graffiti!) and gave it some grain enhancing oil and satin varnish. Its now a very cool industrial style shoe bench with perfect old school styling. Just waiting for its new home!

How cute is this original 1950’s old school bench. It is stamped LEC to the underside and 1955. It would most likely have sat in a gym or changing room for changing shoes. Made form bent tubular frame with a lovely coloured thick pine seat. Perfect for a small hallway or entrance, children’s bedroom etc.

This is a beautiful late 19th Century folding seat bench in cast iron framework with antique pitch pine seating. It dates from around 1870-1890 and was made by the North of England School Furnishing Co, based in Darlington [‘Furney’] (1860’s to c1970). We assume it was therefore originally used in a school hall, dining room or gym? It is in superb condition for its age with all joints being solid and the bench sitting very sturdy for regular use. We fully cleaned the piece and gently restored its colour and finish, with some simple waxing to the gorgeous cast iron legs and back support.
All four seats fold up which makes it perfect for a narrow hallway. We love the style, colour and overall versatility of the bench. It could be a hall bench, additional seating for a party, bbq, Christmas etc. The bench is solid and sturdy when folded out and totally useable as an everyday use bench. We have added feet to make it stable but more secure fixings to a floor would make it look more ‘fitted’ and sleeker.
We adore the design and condition, making it stand out from the masses of hall benches available.
