A beautiful original Art Deco jewellery box in walnut veneer. The box is completely original and dates to around the late 1920’s to mid 1930’s. It is made made from quality walnut veneer with a cross grain inlaid marquetry border design. It is preserved very well with a beautiful aged colour. Internally the top retains its original quilted material lid insert. There is also a pull out tray which has been lined on the bottom with a felt material. The main section also has the bottom felt liner. All hinges and the front catch are original and working exactly as they should.
The top of the box has an inlaid shield design which could be engraved if the item was a gift for a special person?

A stunning desk top chest/ drawers of very high quality. The chest is exceptional in so many ways. Firstly it was Elkington & Co. of renowned quality silver and electroplate manufacture (established in Birmingham then opened at 22 Regent Street, London in 1913). To have a quality oak chest with their label on is rare. The quality of the radial cut (Tiger) English oak is exceptional; as are the recessed brass handles to the drawer fronts and both sides. Heavy oak and solid quality brassware make this a chest of quality manufacture and weight. The chest weighs around 12kgs. The design is also a rare example. Styled as a Wellington chest with two front flaps that encase the drawers and become locked in to place by the lock and key that also locks to the top. Even the front wooden banding design work is still all in tact and of very fine order.
The drawers inners and top have all been later lined in an aubergine coloured crushed velvet. Professionally done, though we do not know by who or when. We very rarely see chests of this size, design and quality – especially with a very well known sellers label still present. Could it be a truly special jewellery box?
A true antique investment that should become a treasured family heirloom.

A stunning desk top chest/ drawers. The box is completely original and made from the finest quality heavy tiger oak throughout. Dating from around the early to mid 1930’s it is a superb example of a lockable desk top stationary chest. The quality of the oak and carpentry are of the highest skill and craftsmanship. The box is complemented perfectly with brass campaign style flush fitting handles; both to the outside of the box and both drawer fronts. The front doors are lockable – making it perfect for either personal mail, jewellery or personal belongings.
The top of the box has a brass inlaid shield. Although the shield has never been engraved upon, it does have some surface scratches. These are the only imperfections we can find on the box. Clearly the shield could be engraved to make a very special gift.
