A stunning console produced in the early 20th Century by the very prestigious design and production house Mercier Freres. The producers were very highly regarded and ultimately supplied the Royal Court of Spain in 1855. They were prolific contributors to global furniture exhibitions and design awards. A mounted and framed exhibition advertisement posted for Mercier Freres will be included in the sale of this piece (please see photograph).
This console was hand made in solid walnut frame with book matched walnut veneer to the top and drawer fronts. With high quality elegant hand turned legs and the book matched veneer work there are obvious signs of quality design and production. A pretty special and rare item. It is not perfect. There are a few marks and a small patch of missing veneer to the top (circa 1.5cm x 1cm). However, for a piece circa 100 years old it is beautifully presented. A very rich and perfectly aged walnut patina. Two clean drawers offer storage.
We think this is a console to cherish – in a hallway or bedroom.

This console is an original antique produced in the early 20th Century (c 1900-1915). It was hand made in mahogany with elegant hand turned legs, typical of the Edwardian period. We think it is a very pretty and elegant piece that could fit in a hallway as a console table, a bedroom as a compact dressing table or a bathroom for toiletries; amongst other possibilities. It is in very good antique condition with just a small amount of old damage to one corner (see photograph). All drawers run smoothly and are clean internally.
