A very rare find! An original haberdashery display cabinet dating to the late 1950’s to mid 1960’s. It is in exceptional original condition. All drawers run easily and retain their original cushioned drawer pads. These pads can easily be lifted out if you wanted the full depth of drawer (4cm) or wanted to replace them with thinner liners. Each drawer has their original glass front panels. We adore the aged brass pull handles! Below the main cabinet is a bottom two door cupboard with two pull out trays/ drawers.
The cabinet is very solidly built and probably weighs 80+kgs. This piece is surely a dream find for the serious sewer, crafter or collector in your life? I bet you couldn’t find another one?

A very rare set of small display drawers dating from circa late 1940’s to early 1950’s. The drawers would have been on a counter top in a haberdashery department or sewing shop, full of the different coloured Perivale silk available at the time. We have not seen many of these display drawers or cases and when we have they have been in nowhere near as sharp and colourful condition on the livery. Much poorer examples with missing livery, scratched and sun faded bring between £200 and £400.
Unfortunately the bottom drawer has been replaced with a later addition and replacement brass handle. We also had to have new glass cut for the fronts of the drawers. However, it is the decorative statement and condition of the livery that sets this beautiful piece apart. A real blast of nostalgia for somebody to look at and admire.
There are good examples of original mid Century Perivale silks available on various sites, should you wish to stock the drawers with similarly aged silks. Please see photograph for example.
