This lamp was bought new by an Army Office in 1972. When he brought it home his wife hated the colour, proclaiming “Do you not think we see enough green (things) every day? You had to buy a green lamp?!” Disregarding his wife’s view he sat the lamp on his bedside table, where he had it until last week (Oct 2020). Despite his wife’s attempts at moving it, redecorating, suggesting a new replacement etc. What a fantastic story? Given where it has sat since new, the condition is as good as it gets. Completely original and pretty much flawless, though obviously the paintwork has aged beautifully. This was very tough to decide to sell this lamp, for all of the reasons above.
An original 1970’s Type 75 Anglepoise lamp in its original and rare gorgeous green paint colour. Herbert Terry produced the Type 75 for Anglepoise from 1968 to 1973. In 1983 the Type 90 lamps were taken to mass produced (Type 90 Apex) and no longer produced by Herbert Terry in Redditch. A very nicely styled and aged original lamp in a great colour and original vintage condition. The condition is very good original condition, please see all photographs for close up condition shots. The lamp also has the stamp of the Anglepoise Trademark and Herbert Terry on the base fork uprights (see photographs) to prove its heritage and authenticity.
Very popular vintage lamps that sell really quickly – and we completely understand why. They look fantastic already but will just keep getting better with time. We don’t think you could find an original Type 75 lamp in better condition and certainly not with a better story?
