Over the coming days we thought we’d share why we love antique and vintage pieces to achieve that perfect designer home look.
Reason 1 – A nod to the real craftsmen:
Antiques and Vintage pieces of furniture were mainly made by hand – by genuine craftsmen and specialists. They used high quality materials and their decades of skill, to craft furniture that would long outlive them.
They took pride in their work, had nothing in comparison to today with regards to machinery, laser measurements and guides, precision cutting machines etc. They plied their trade with hand tools, skills they learned through apprenticeships and most importantly blood, sweat and tears. Not many people appreciate how hard it is to manually saw, plane, sand, or operate machinery by hand and foot.
If you work so hard on something you need the finished product to give you the satisfaction that all the effort and years of training have paid off. The craftsmen of years gone by took real pride in their work, which is where their job satisfaction came from.
At W H I S P E R & E C H O we think you can ‘feel’ that effort and pride in pieces and we love the fact that we are giving forgotten and unloved pieces another lease of life.
