Quite simply the very best mid century stacking bookcase by Simplex that we have seen. The cabinetry is in beautiful mahogany. It was purchased by a lecturer in Engineering and Mathematics at Birmingham University. It has then sat in the same spot for the last circa 60 years. Beautiful original condition with all original glass. So much storage that was full to the seams of books. It can now be styles exactly as you wish. A piece in this good condition with such clean lines is so flexible and so desirable. A real vintage gem!

£0An excellent example of an original mid century glazed bookcase, produced by Staverton in the 19650’s. This one is clearly stamped 1956 on the back to date it accurately (please see photographs). It is produced from high quality radial cut English oak and oak veneer with ply internals and section dividers. All of the glass is complete with no cracks. The condition is excellent for the year but there are some old marks to the left hand side. These are purely cosmetic and have marked the veneer only. The right hand side is not marked.
With it’s simple lines, quality of oak and carpentry it is a beautiful vintage classic. These glazed Staverton bookcases are pretty rare now. Our pricing research could not find any others for sale. Previous sold prices were £1199-1384.

A superb solid oak bookcase dating from around the 1920’s. The weight, colour and grain of the oak show the quality of this piece. It is a very solid cabinet with excellent joinery skills within the cabinetry making. It is a classic late 1920’s design, represented in the shape and proportions.

A superb solid oak bookcase dating from around the 1920’s and very much of the Art Deco influence (1908-1935 in the UK) . The colour and grain of the oak show the quality of this piece. It has some very attractive Art Deco influence design on the fluted pillars and curved corner supports. It offers a perfect nod to the Art Deco movement without having too many curves and over design; that can really clutter the clean lines.
